  1. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

You've gotten good results it seems with the HC-110!
  2. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

That looks great. Looks like some of Venice Beach I saw last year (not that the different beaches of south Florida have many distinguishing features!).

Re: Lens Not Focusing, What is the Cause?

Just to be sure, I will mention that to focus closer, you must extend the bellows out. If 130mm extension gives you infinity focus, 260mm would give you a "1:1" magnification (life-size). Your...

Re: Lens Not Focusing, What is the Cause?

If you've used a 135mm lens, your 120mm should work with roughly 15mm less extension for infinity focusing.

Your rear element suspicion is probably correct. Shims wouldn't make that much of a...

    Re: Screen Cezanne Users Unite

Okay, so it's an adapter. Didn't know that existed, either - I last used IDE hard drives in my PC's back maybe 15 years ago, and never looked back, until having to deal with the G4.

It really is that simple. Make sure the bellows are extended a moderate amount, else the leaks will not be as obvious.

  25. Re: Focusing Issues with Nikkor T-ED 360/500/720 lens?

Corners are not soft on 8x10, the lens is perfectly usable. My guess is the 360/500/720 uses basically a 1.4x and 2x TC type of design to get the configurations - hence the loss of light. A 2x...
  26. Re: Focusing Issues with Nikkor T-ED 360/500/720 lens?

Yes it does. No hard vignetting. I usually shoot at f/22 or f/32...of course that's only 1-2 stops from max aperture!
  27. Re: Focusing Issues with Nikkor T-ED 360/500/720 lens?

It's a non-issue. Just use a bit of front rise to correct the change in composition, or use rear movements. The amount of perspective distortion from the angle of the camera on a long tele lens is...

  29. Re: How to decide for a set of three lenses for a Linhof Technika IV

Lens design for small format lenses is very different, being generally retrofocus. Vignetting, or fall-off, is a fact of life. Buy a center filter if it's a problem. You are focusing much too much on...
  30. Re: How to decide for a set of three lenses for a Linhof Technika IV

Ig Nacio, if you have to crop the photo, I assume you mean vignetting as in "no image." This would be because the image circle is not large enough for your film. What I was referring to is better...

  32. Re: How to decide for a set of three lenses for a Linhof Technika IV

Who can say what is "very strong" to you? A 75mm is wider than 90mm, so by definition it will have more fall-off, given the same or similar lens design. A 47mm will vignette a lot harder than that...
  33. Re: How to decide for a set of three lenses for a Linhof Technika IV

Most lenses wider than 90mm are a pain to use on the Linhof. You can do it, of course, with some effort, but if you want to shoot wide-angle architecture with lots of movements, the Linhof IV is not...

Actually, why is this in the Image Sharing subforum and not On Photography?
  35. Re: Where are the great shots? Am I a cynicist or a realist?

I think if you dig a little deeper, this is not true. There's a lot of successful (photographer) artists, working in large format no less, selling prints. The market is different, no doubt, and...
