    Re: 4x loupe

I have two Rodenstock 4x loupes and used it a lot. A few months ago I got a Chamonix 5x loupe. Not adjustable, but much brighter. Now the Rodenstock loupes are not in my camera bag anymore.
  3. Re: Unsharp Masking…Would I/Could I/Should I?

A simple question to those who have used this technique: How this masking/carrier system, let's say 8x10, be used with an 8x10 contact frame, not an 8x10 enlarger? My understanding is the pins make...
  4. Re: Unsharp Masking…Would I/Could I/Should I?

Thank you Michael and I will read more about this technique.
  5. Re: Unsharp Masking…Would I/Could I/Should I?

For someone who doesn't use an enlarger and contact print only, does this unsharp masking technique worth the time and trouble to learn? Most of my negs are 8x10 sizes.

  7. Re: A DIY 123mm f/8 Cooke split triplet for 4x5

    Dan,

Yes a Protar V covers more, but not by that much than Zeiss Dagor. 16 inch image circle vs 15 1/2 for this 18cm. F/9 is much brighter than f/18. Believe me as I have used both. This 18cm lens...

If you can build something like this, I think many 810 camera users will be interested. Something with 100 degree coverage.

Try to use gel ND filters to reduce light. I tape them on the lens front before exposure when needed.

Re: Wide angle lenses for 8x10

Dan and Daniel are right. Regular 168mm and 180mm Dagor of f/6.8 won't fully cover 8x10 at infinity. The Zeiss Dagor 18cm f/9 covers, but that lens is hard to find and is expensive.

Must be a misprint. No way that lens can fit into a Compound IV shutter. I have an Apo-Skopar 45CM in Compound IV. But I have seen pictures of Apo-Lanthar 30cm mounted in Ilex #5 shutter.
