You're all 100% correct. In fact, inserting them the wrong way and then trying to pull them out ripped out a felt piece that goes on the top of one!

Thanks Jim.
I'm putting the end opposite the notch in first. We're you able to watch the video? If a picture is a thousand words then I'm hoping a video is a lot more :-)
It's been awhile since I loaded my grafmatics. But when I had everything ready in my dark bag and got all the septums ready with film in them, I tried loading them back into the back. But for some...
This is good inspiration:

But seriously this is the endless debate. Some might call it a "master-debate"...

What is film?

I printed my own body to make a 6x12 camera. I see a lot of guys talking about the quality of 3D printed plastics but for SLS I've found them to be phenomenal and very precise.

I didn't use a depth gauge but I did use a micrometer and added some measurable spaces together. I'll look into getting a depth gauge. I'm building a camera to take grafmatics and was thinking I...
I've been searching for more information on this subject, so if this is common knowledge or if there's a thread about this please feel free to shoot it over.
The issue as I see it is that the...
Jack, did you ever get an answer here? I just looked at the distance to the film plane of my grafmatics and can see that there is a significant different between them and the plastic holders.
Just bought a Schneider 80mm F2 for the Rollei 6000 system for $600. These can go up and over $2000.
I don't even have a Rollei to use it on but I couldn't pass up the deal :-).
I don't think Harmann has much of a budget for R&D. When was the last time they came out with a new film?
But the other items sound likely.
Impossible to tell.
I think we'll probably be fine though. The only doom and gloom scenario is if the new owners dumped all of the assets into the market to break it up and sell it. But who wants...
I could picture no light meter, no viewfinder even... But the film holder is indispensable IMHO.
But seriously, I really wonder about the options for other types of backs on these. Two backs I...
My post was admittedly confusing. I really meant I was dying for someone to review the Travelwide and give their impressions.
Perhaps the accessory rangefinder will work great, I'm just itching to...
Zone focusing is your best guess as to what the distance to your subject will be and then putting that on the lens. I suppose the rangefinder accessory will help but I wonder how effective it will...
I'm really interested to know about the experience with the 90mm version. Focusing will still be important and zone focusing may be tough. If it's decent then I'd love to use it for 6x12 and 4x5...
I've used the Mamiya RZ and it's a phenomenal camera that offers lots of ability for creative control. The shift system on it is also not so expensive.
LF offers even more creative control. But it...
In regards to the question of "How to get people to your site" (which I think is a much more fascinating and difficult question than "How do I build my site" or "what hosting do I use"), I'd...
I know what side the number will be on, but I still don't want to use it. I'd prefer it gone so I can have more room on the negative. I do so much work to setup, get everything just right... I...
Hey guys -
Just to share an image I took from this project. More to come.

Fantastic thread! I found some light leaks in my Grafmatics but then after reading this, it's my own fault (great information to have).
Also, the removal of the disk is a great idea along with the...
So they need to sell 200K sheets of film. Why not do a kickstarter? Let's just stick with Delta 3200 to keep it simple.
I'd buy 200 sheets of Delta 3200 for sure. They'd need 1000 guys like me...
17cm = 6.7 inches. A 6x17 back would not fit a 4x5 camera. But it would fit on a 5x7 (or larger).
My 6x12 back barely fits my 4x5. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to shoot some 6x17 :-).
Yea, I also have a Horseman 6x12 back (fantastic build quality and operation, btw). I'm debating on either the 65mm or the 90 with the TW. Either would be fun but I like a portrait length more. Of...
I proposed this earlier, but using a 6x12 back on the Travelwide would be a good option :-).
This way you can shoot your Delta 3200 and make some sweet panoramas.
What are people's thoughts on whether to begin with a monorail or a field camera?
Maybe for learning movements and precision, the monorail is better. Also might be had for a better price point.
...
We're getting close :-).
I just hope I can get one in my hands before the fall of this year so I can have one on a trip!
I was about to list my Horseman 6x12 for 4x5 back on ebay. But after seeing this, I decided not to.
This mated with the 6x12 back would be a dream for traveling. 120 travels better than 4x5 (no...
I've heard the grain on those roaches is beautiful when using rodinal.
I have yet to disown ignorance and probably never will. You're correct, I've much to learn :-).
This makes more sense to me now. But I suppose I could increase the size of the room to 10 feet but...
Hey friends,
I'm looking to do some camera obscura work. The focal length is something around 5 feet and the image circle diameter needs to be 4-5 feet. Does anyone have experience with lenses that...
These are great!
If you guys end up going through the process, let me know. I live in Brooklyn and would like to see it as well.
Interestingly enough, not only do you not need higher resolution but you might also prefer a "lower" quality scanner.
I took the below photo during 2014's burning man. A friend showed great...
Thanks for all the notes.
I was banking on staying the weekend if Wichita Shockers won their game but they didn't so back to NYC I go. Darned fighting Irish gave us a run for our money and won. I...
Hey Fellas.
I'm in Cleveland for the weekend with some family and going to shoot with my chamonix for the first time. I'm looking for good places to go shooting. Not from around here (1st time...
I love websites from the "digital stone age" (anything pre-2005).
This certainly qualifies:

Fair enough. This has happened more than I would expect though which is why I noted it.
I'd check youtube for some help. Lots of people showing their process. I liked this guys setup.

Rock chalk but lookout for the WuShock :-)
I've used them for some time. And they are ok. I had some 120 negs messed up (it was a few years ago and I don't remember the problem exactly, I think some hardened fix spots that I asked them to...
