Re: Exact Full Plate Image Dimensions?

Well, the film is generally 1/16th under on each dimension and the rails in the holder eat up another 1/8 or so. I have 3 different brands of whole plate holders. They all produce very slightly...

    Re: 210mm APO W - Yellow Ring?

Yes, they have certainly become more expensive over the last few years. But a lot the sellers on Ebay are hopeful rather than realistic. 210 was about $1000 a few years ago. Still around $1200 now....

    Re: 210mm APO W - Yellow Ring?

Yup. 150, 210, 300 all late production with the yellow ring. Earlier variations sans yellow ring are more common. The 210 is an amazing lens, but you'll run out of coverage on 8x10 before you like....

    Re: Darlot Projection Lens Question

Yes, you can use the front achromat as a soft focus kind of thing. It would also make a nice landscape lens with a small aperture in front of it. It likely works at f8-f12. It should produce a...

    Re: agfa-ansco universal serial numbers?

No, they made thousands. It was a popular camera. I have 1088, 2850, a US Navy camera from 1941 and an early one I've not be able to find the serial number on yet.

    Re: Kim Weston Nude Workshop

I've been twice. 2009 & 2012. I'll likely visit again. The Westons put on a great workshop. Wildcat Hill is a great location for shooting. They get good models and Kim & Gina are a pleasure. I...
  13. Re: Eastman Portrait f-5 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 11.5 inch

I feel like I see the index mark on the rear barrel of your lens in the picture you posted. If you want to send me the lens, I'm happy to take a look at it.
  14. Re: Combining two Petzvals, would it make sense?

I'm currently engaged in such nefarious activities... If the groups are of from lenses of similar focal lengths it can work out quite well. I have a 11.25" f3.6 Voigtlander with an awful front...
  15. Re: Eastman Portrait f-5 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 11.5 inch

Usually it's just the rearmost lens, though I think the Wollensak Vitax moves the innermost lens of the rear pair. Dallmeyer copies generally have each rear component in its own mount, so that they...
  16. Re: Eastman Portrait f-5 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 11.5 inch

The rearmost glass should unscrew from the inner element. That's your diffusion control if this lens has it. Usually there is a hash mark on the inner barrel and sometimes numbers 1-4 to indicate...

  20. Re: How to decide for a set of three lenses for a Linhof Technika IV

It's a personal choice, but back when I was shooting with quite a bit Linhof Technikas I found the 90, 150, 210, 300 lens line up to be perfect.
  21. Re: Hermagis Serial numbers Need your help with a database

Oh, I should add the serial number. No. 3 'Normal' Petzval 13,981. Though the edge of the front achromat is marked 1888. Perhaps that second 8 should be a 6. Mis-marked possibly.
  22. Re: Hermagis Serial numbers Need your help with a database

Anyone know who ended up winning the lot of Hermagis glass? I have a No.3 Petzval that is missing an element in the rear group.
