I duuno, with scepticism (and money) the way it is today, $7500 is an awful lot of money for a photograph that's not actually printed by AA himself even if the plate used in the process *might* have...

Hoi, Eddie, als je niet een oude scheet geest op het feest, wil ik graag opdagen ook.

Is he really changing some film, or stuffing a pipe :D

Well, if Frank's not joking and he's making the trip from Rochester, I guess I can drive the 225 miles or so. I'll bring my toys, as well as some meat and potato salad--should stay cold in the back...
Really lots of great info here guys! I'm compiling the list now which will include current links to info about the various workshops. If you've got any more to add, please do so--maybe we can turn...
Heck, Frank, I've got a better idea: I'll teach you everything thing I know about web development, you teach me everything you know about photography. Together we'll work on memory skills, and we'll...
Wow, folks, I really appreciate the great info here! I've already started researching availability for 2010 and will try to put together a current list based on my findings and your initial input. ...
Well it looks like 2010 is going to be the Year of the Workshop for me (I'm now empty-nested and have got to find something to do with all the extra time and money I'm going to have (yeah, right))...
I found the following excerpts from the MSN piece rather telling:
If you could leave the world only a handful of images, what would you shoot? What would you see that we might miss, even if...
It's got to be at least a couple of hundred. But I won't go through the motion of calculating the closet size, the approx. size of each cylinder, nor will I subtract the volume the shelving takes...
I own a closet full of Charmin (which is spelled somewhat like Chamonix), which tends to come to mind when I read the first post in this thread. I gotta admit though that the whole Chamonix thing...
Hi QT,
One thing that none of the others have mentioned yet that I figured I better mention: always spell check any text you're going to display. I'm an Information Architect by trade, and...
Ansel Adams: The Black-and-White Master, in Color
Thought some of you folks might be interested in this.

Sure were--I was in Europe from '74-'78 & '80-'90. Lots of great memories. But if you're going to be in Utrecht and have some time to spare, one of my favorite places to take pix was along the...
Utrecht, wow! I lived in Leusden, near Amersfoort, from 74'-76'.

The only cameras spec'd out with a fresnel on Chamonix's web site are the 4x5 & 5x8. That's not to say the others don't ship with a Fresnel, just to say that only these two models appear to do so.
...
As a non-Chamonix owner who almost bought a 45N-1, given the remedy for the focusing issue provided by Chamonix thus far, I've a concern for would-be Chamonix buyers. There's no doubt that the 45N-1...
Hey, it was a great machine in its day. I learned Basic using one.

Lol, interesting thread. Once could certainly make a strong argument that computers (or anything digital for that matter) are, in a certain "cents," a lot like used cars and dslrs: that is, if you...
Thanks, Brian--you make some very valid points. I think for the time being, I'm just going to pick up a small level at Home Depot or Lowes, which should do just fine for my purposes.
Jan C.
That's one of the first things I noticed, once I got the SF open.
I guess the cheapest route would be to pick up a small spirit level at a hardware store, but I noticed there are a number of...
Well, the Titan SF showed up today, in exactly the condition the seller described! Had to clean the GG, and there were a couple of loose screws, but they weren't anything a screwdriver couldn't fix...
Thanks for the comments and tips, all. Much appreciated!
As for the Fuji 450, I'll certainly investigate it as an option after I receive the camera. Should be any day now. Also, Mike told me I...
Had a great day yesterday -- a little background:
I've been patiently waiting at least a half a year for a Walker Titan SF to show up for sale somewhere at a price I could afford. It finally did...
Though it might not necessarily be viewed by some as a work of art, I like the one with the two girls playing coy and and the two guys with cigarettes in their mouth. From a journalistic viewpoint,...
1 cancer tumor, 2 cancer tumors, 3 cancer tumors... :D

Boy, but I sometimes wish I was closer to NYC. Okay, maybe not that much closer. But this sure looks like it might be a great time.
Jan C.
Looking forward to it, Eddie!

Well, if I was measuring it in dog years, I'd be 7.7142857142857142857142857142857 years old. And if I was a celestial body in the same orbit as Pluto, I'd be 0.21774193548387096774193548387097 of...
Daks is short for Adirondacks, upstate NY. Me, I'm about 125 miles NW of Albany, halfway between Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, right smack at the top of Upper Saranac lake.
Eddie, that's funny, I'll be in the Daks too this fall for fall colors. Then bare trees, the first fall of snow, and that cold, harsh blowing wind on the frozen lakes. Want to hook up while you're...
...unless, of course, while you are under the cloth setting up to take pix of those grizzlies in Yellowstone, one of their cousins approach from the south side, looking for a quick meal
Well I think it had to be Microtek's OEM software, even if they say it's compatible with Vista 32. I downloaded the trial from Vuescan, installed it, clicked the scan button, and walla, I've got an...
I'm hoping someone here has come across this problem before...
Anyway, I got a new old i900 a little while back and finally got around to installing the software and the drivers for it yesterday...
I hope I'm not flamed for this, but I can't help but comment here. From a functional perspective, Chamonix appears to produce some really nice cameras--I almost bought one myself. As for aesthetics,...
Thanks for all the good advice guys, and that great link to the site KHB provides regarding Omega enlargers. I'm going to ask the seller if he doesn't mind having a look inside the mixing box. And...
Curious: was the server down last night? My browser couldn't resolve the url until about 45 minutes ago or so.
