  4. Re: Different versions of Slide scanned on Howtek

But using it or some obscure profile made by Joseph Holmes will not help Steven's...
  5. Re: What do the wide gamut profiles in DPL mean

I've found EpsonScan also very capable with color negatives using a flatbed. I think a lot of people on this site dismiss it, since it's free, and think silverfast or vuescan must be better because...
  6. Re: What do the wide gamut profiles in DPL mean

  7. Re: Different versions of Slide scanned on Howtek

Looks good the highlights just look a little hot. My suggestion would be to try using wide gamet negative uncorrected. and use the densitometer feature and make little detail prescans of those...
  8. Re: What do the wide gamut profiles in DPL mean

The guys at Aztek are great, especially with troubleshooting problems or questions about the hardware. but their main job is selling the software and tape, mylar, and fluid, or tuning up old...

use wide gamut negative uncorrected for color negatives and b&w negatives.

for chromes, either use kodak ektachrome no matter what film type.

  13. Re: Gitzo GT4553S Tripod -- Thoughts?

I have a gt3530s which I think is the same size as the gt1325, besides one of the leg locks stripping out once and having to send it in for repair, I've been very satisfied.

  18. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

    Thank you!

Really Appreciate you taking the time to go into that much detail. Seems to make sense, I'd have to get a bunch of that stuff, starting with the camera, to actually try it myself.

    Cool – Thanks a lot

did you tape the film down or have any sort of rig set up to hold the film flat for the 3 pass stitch? or have a rail that you slid the R4 on?

  23. Re: mini ball head that allows the ball to be removed?

  31. Re: Flextight holder that allows full frame scanning of 4x5 negative?

I've also done that shift and stitch - it works but not how I want to spend my hours on earth....can be quite time consuming to do it properly compared to one shot with the proper sized opening
  32. Re: Flextight holder that allows full frame scanning of 4x5 negative?

Thanks a lot, good to know, I thought I remembered seeing one on there a while back...I think the 127 is too big....Hopefully the seller messages me back and can make more available.
