    Re: Linhof Technika RF cams...

I wonder why a cam couldn't be 3D printed. Now that I have a printer I'm starting to wonder why anything can't be printed - sort of the old "If you have a hammer everything looks like a nail." I...

Re: 3D printer for lens stuff

I put the stops in front of a high powered LED flashlight and the 1mm plastic is light tight. There were a couple of pinholes where I tried to emboss the f-stop label 1/2mm deep but that would be...

    3D printer for lens stuff

I just got a Dremel 3D45 3D printer. I really got it to make enclosures for some of the odor-sensing chips I'm working with but as a first project I made Waterhouse stops for my Darlot lens as well...
  6. Re: Coverage of Repro-Clarons vs G-Clarons

I've had my 305 Repro Claron since around 1970 - 1975. I bought it new for my Kardan Bi 5 x 7 which I bought new in 1970. I got a Linhof Symmar 210 with the camera but the Repro Claron became my main...
  7. Re: Maintaining 68 with tankless water heater

Yes - this house has AC AND Swamp Coolers. We decommissioned the swamp coolers because they made the place so damp.

Inside temp averages about 74 - 75 but gets close to 80 in the summer, which can...
  8. Re: Maintaining 68 with tankless water heater

Opposite problem here - the "cold" water can get up to almost 90 in the Summer. One "solution" has to been to use Ilford XP-2 in the summer since it's a c41 process. But that only works for MF:(
  9. Re: Can anyone recommend a sturdy tall carbon fiber tripod and ball head/pan-tilt hea

I saw a mention of the Kessler Crane Kwik release. I use several of them and they are superb. I have two of the bases mounted on the platform of my Majestic - some of the cameras have the QR plate...
  10. Re: how do I use the same lenses for different cameras?

I think the Technika board is a really good candidate. There are even adapters available to mount them on MF cameras. I use lenses in Technika boards on my Mamiya RB67 as well as my Fuji GX680. Both...
  11. Re: Tripods: Is Carbon Fiber worth the extra cost?

Pretty much just a matter of how much weight you want to schlep around. If you were shooting ULF or even 8 x 10 I suspect the weight differential wouldn't be that significant for your pack mules,but...
  12. Re: A source of valuable data on French lens makers and their products.

Business models are always subject to change. They were quite pleasant when I contacted them and sent me PDF's of the sold out publications I was interested, in so I'd be more inclined to think they...

  14. Re: Nikkor-T 360mm / 500mm / 720m: 500mm at full aperture with 4x5 film, how good?

I've been pretty favorably impressed by Fujinon lenses of all stripes. I use a 250mm for LF and I have a Fuji GX680 with six lenses. Just for fun I ran a series of tests comparing the Zeiss lenses on...
  15. Re: Nikkor-T 360mm / 500mm / 720m: 500mm at full aperture with 4x5 film, how good?

I have the 3 FL set and the lenses are surprisingly sharp at every aperture I've used. Don't specifically remember if I shot wide open, but It's an excellent set. I use them all on 5 x 7 and the 360...
  16. Re: A source of valuable data on French lens makers and their products.

I emailed them to ask about the Darlot edition and they said it's sold out but they would put me on the list for the next batch.

  19. Re: Epson V850 Perfection ,Will it scan 8x10 Film ?

5 x 7 can be scanned with the high res lens in the 750 so I suspect it will be the same story in the 800/850. I was wet mounting 5 x 7 with the so-called mounting station until I got my IQsmart-2

  31. Re: Scanning 8x10 method Epson v850 super resolution lens

Well, if you only use the middle 5 or so inches of the negative I guess that will work, but you might want to think about cutting 8 x 10 down to two 4 x 10 pieces and using a 4 x 10 film holder. You...
  32. Re: Scanning 8x10 method Epson v850 super resolution lens

I have the Nikon 360/500/720 set and I'm completely satisfied with the sharpness. My only complaint is that focusing an f/16 lens (the 720) is a bit hard on my 80 year old eyes. I use the 360 and 500...
