Re: Make your own universal iris?

    Dear Hoffner,

    This IS the diy forum.

My interest in this is more for the fact that the fellow posted the files publicly so you can modify them and go get them cut yourself.

    I rather hope...

OK, so maybe not "universal" but we're getting closer.
  4. Re: You haven't really worked on a Graphic until...

I'm not sure if this will help for this particular use, but a trick that I learned long ago is to use a tiny bit of grease (in the screw slot, or wherever) to get the item that you are trying to...

    Re: Pumpkin Wetplate Camera

I'll bet you even have longer working time as the plates won't dry out so quickly.
  6. Re: Polaroid Land Pack with strange adapter

I've seen these (or similar) in a surplus shop that sells industrial castoffs.

I believe it came from an oscilloscope camera.

  8. Re: Want an Instant film holder like a Polaroid 405 for 3 1/4" X 4 1/4" Cameras?

Ed Sawyer, do you have an extra Graflex "E" lensboard that you might sell me?

Alpenhause, do you have a use for a 3x4 Graflex with a broken shutter? You can "borrow" it for shipping costs and...
  9. Re: Size of 3.5x4.5 Speed Graphic FP Shutter?

You might just look for the focal plane shutter assembly that Graflex made as an accessory to go on the back of their studio cameras. They are not as common as a Speed Graphic, but it has everything...

    Re: Tolerance for aperture centring

Try making a cardboard stop with the hole way off center and see what it looks like.

If 1/4 inch off looks anything like OK, then your best shot at finding center will be fine.
  12. Re: Models of cameras that would have used Dry Plate size 3.25 x 5.5 inch?

Oren, would you be willing to part with one of those holders if it fits my Kodak 3a?

So the Kodak 3a and the Graflex 3a were both postcard size. Both took roll film, but the Kodak could take plate...

Measure the one that's in the mail to you now.

It fits a bit tight, but it will serve as a standard for your next one.

    Antique lens ID help please

I traded a guy for this, sight unseen. It arrived today.

    Linhof panorama head question

I found an older Linhof tripod with a panorama head.

The head will not quite lock down; it can always turn, although the small plastic headed bolt does adjust the resistance somewhat.

    45PSS is Charles Monday.

He said that 3a's aren't fun to work on and so priced repairs accordingly.

    Re: Nickel (?) Hermagis Petzval....

    Yes.

Now we think of brass (with wood) as the class act, but 100 years ago (and earlier) brass was the second choice.

The top of the line would likely be nickel plated: metallic nickel, not...

John, You're right on several counts.

    I suspect that the pin...
  35. Re: R.B Cycle Graphic question: How do I R. the B.?

    Tracy,

    I'm in Kingston, NY.

Again, because of the unusually good condition of this camera otherwise, I'm reluctant to take the rough and ready approach to fixing it.

    Jim C.,

    I'm sure that...
  36. Re: R.B Cycle Graphic question: How do I R. the B.?

    Tracy,

The pin is doing it's job of...

    Chemical patina, and it looks...
  39. Re: R.B Cycle Graphic question: How do I R. the B.?

Thanks, that's the answer I need.

What threw me off is that there is no evidence of a former button wearing on the black painted brass plate on my camera.

Now all I gotta do is fix it.
