I will find out. I had my 35mm film camera in my checked bags.
  3. Re: Travelers: New X-ray machines WILL ruin your film

I just flew to OKC and they had signs up that said film would be ruined if in checked baggage.
  4. Re: Decided to get a Howtek 8000HiRes

I keep my tiff file sizes between 1gb and 3.95gb for 4x5. I like to scan at max resolution and the bin down to half that. But with the drum scanner, I might get files at 3200dpi as good as scanning...
  5. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

I see it now. Skies are always my toughest portion of a scene to get right. I'll have to remember that step. Thanks for the pointers.
  6. Re: Decided to get a Howtek 8000HiRes

I am getting a good deal so to speak, I am just curious about how it compares to the Tango. Tango is a bit more, but not much and freaking huge. How many 4x5s can you scan on the Howtek8000 at same...
  7. Decided to get a Howtek 8000HiRes

Fully refurbished, 6 month warranty, set up, comes with computer to run it, software etc. I looked at tango, but they are quite heavy, and from research require a fair amount of servicing whereas...

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

I agree. After looking at it, I think it should be desaturated slightly to keep it from fighting for attention and instead become a supporting character.

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

Here is the uncropped version. Not much in the sky and a little bit of work to expand crop. I may do that as the more I look at it, it seems a bit cramped on composition. Feels like it needs a bit...
  10. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

Looks like you opened it up shadows a bit, but barely. I can go with that. I also see the crop from the left as well.

I will hopefully get to use it here shortly on my next trip up north this week to Utah. At least that is the plan.

    Re: Using TXP 320

My main reason for it is the sensitivity it has in the blue region of light which is beneficial for astrophotography. It's a shame I can't get a film that is sensitive to red around 1100nm. Seems...

Here is another Toroweep shot. Grand Canyon Northwest rim. Shot with Toyo 45 (felt like it weighed a ton) 75mm Nikkor f/4.5@f/32 I believe. Portra160, metered at 160. Standard developing.

  38. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

As long as I have my Chamonix 4x5 or even a 5x7/8x10 version I am good. When I gotta lug an 8x10 Toyo forget it, I would take up knitting :) or go digital. That said, your still out there so keep...

  40. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

I like the first one with the ghost lites. Everything is balanced, with good shadows and highlights. While I like the ghost lights from the car/truck that went by, they seem a bit out of place. ...
