  1. Re: L. de Pulligny - C.Puyo - Objectifs d'Artiste

There's been a link to the book at http://cnum.cnam.fr/CGI/redire.cgi?8KE464 in "the list" for some time. Still, bringing it up again can only help.
  2. Re: To build a Large format lens w/ an aero military lens & a shutter

Hmm. OP, which aero lenses do you have in mind? Most, and especially the longer ones, are poisoned gifts.
  3. Re: A good book on LF exposure, reciprocity and bellows extension exposure compensati

There's more to it than that. See the Lefkowitz book mentioned in the link.
  4. Re: A good book on LF exposure, reciprocity and bellows extension exposure compensati

Exposure has to be adjusted for reciprocity failure and for magnification for all sizes of camera. In these respects LF is nothing special. Any good book on macro/closeup photography will explain...

    Re: Xenotar condition opinions?

Perhaps not directly relevant, but I have an 80/2.8 Xenotar that has the coveted "cleaned with sandpaper" look. Unusable. The OP's lens isn't nearly as bad. Even so, if I were the OP I"d send it...

More about lenses for Polaroid macro and copy cameras.

    Re: Macro lens set

Greg, other undervalued gems worth looking for are the 90, 120 and 165 CZJ Mikrotars and the 100/6.3 Reichert Neupolar, all f/6.3 reversed (cemented doublet faces the subject) Tessars and all very...

Arri, I know that you know what you're doing so this reminder may be a little insulting. I give it for readers who don't know as much as you. Your shorter lenses won't cover 4x5 at low...

Re: High-Speed Sync for Speed Graphic

Almost true. 2x3 Pacemaker Speeds -- taboo here, but that's what I have -- have usefully more extension that 2x3 Crowns. Crowns are indeed friendlier to short lenses. I was able to justify having...

Re: Zeiss Protar 8.5cm f18 Bill Brandt lens

90/14 Berthiot Perigraphe Ser. VIa. Covers at least 105 degrees, 234 mm on 4x5. This lens wasn't sold in shutter. The lens in barrel can be stuffed into the front of an Ilex #3 shutter, but to get...
  18. Re: Fujinon 180mm. f/9 - Curious about some specs.

150/5.6 Xenar, 35.5 mm front to back; 210/6.1 Xenar, 49.7 mm. These are more or less the last of the f/6.3 tessar types and are supposed to be the best.

    Re: Compur shutter questions

If I read the photo correctly the front cell's side is engraved Xenar 1:3/5 F - 15 CM. If so, the shutter is larger than a #1. Best to wait until you have it in hand, then measure. In the worst...

    Re: Large format aerial photography...anyone?

Per, it is more likely that the Draken couldn't carry larger (4.5" x 4.5", 9" x 9") aerial cameras as used by, e.g., USAF and RAF. Vinten's F95, which shot 6x6 on 70 mm film, was used by many air...

    Re: Ortho-protar (Zeiss) 19 cm 1:25

    Re: Repro Claron Question

Lens abuse. Schneider claims that the 210/9 RC covers 178 mm at infinity, aperture not specified. 46 degrees, pretty much the norm for process dialytes.

I b'lieve that my former 55/8 Repro Claron's outer elements -- remember, these lenses are 4/4 dialyte types -- were the radioactive ones.

  36. Re: Grandagon vs. Grandagon-N vs. Nikkor lenses. A light fall-off question.

Hmm. Another optimistic optimizer trying to optimize in considerable, as Bob mentioned, ignorance.

The better is the enemy of the good. That said, both lenses are better than good enough.
  37. Re: Grandagon vs. Grandagon-N vs. Nikkor lenses. A light fall-off question.

Depends on the prescription. Some want thicker elements than others.
  38. Re: Grandagon vs. Grandagon-N vs. Nikkor lenses. A light fall-off question.

Mechanical design? Barrel material? Same design type, different prescriptions? Different design type -- the 90/8 SA is six elements in four groups, the 90/8 Nikkor SW is eight/four.
  39. Re: Opinion: Would a 90mm f8 or f6.8 lens be too dark for dawn and dusk landscape?

The ones you listed are functionally equivalent. Same threading, same correction.
