I found that in order to use the B "bulb" mode the Shanel 5A seems to require a cable release with a long throw. Have you encountered this and what type of cale release do you use?
The grain of the wood on your camera is gorgeous. I'm interested to know what wood it is. Otherwise congratulations on building such a beautiful camera!
I have generally understood that the forum and its FS listings are not designed as a means of determining values of items, as indicated in the prohibition on "Equipment Value Questions" as stated in...
I found my JOBO 2830 and extension module used and it is great. I have used it for up to 11x14 paper and film and without room for trays it is very useful.
Viewing the image on the ground glass of an ULF camera with a bright lens, and seeing how movements and different apertures change the image, is incredibly interesting and fun. B&W direct positives...
I was intrigued to see the Canham JMC810 metal 8x10" camera has a minimum bellows extension of 69.5 mm, which is remarkable!

This is my current 11x14 setup. I bought one of Kumar's adapters that allows me to use the 480mm APO Nikkor in a Shanel 5A shutter on this camera.

I have the Apo-Nikkor 480 f/9 lens, and I would be very interested in an adapter to mount it into a Shanel shutter.
I have two of Erik's contact frames (11x14 and 11x15) and they are very well made and function perfectly.
Today Fotoimpex updated its listings for Bergger 13x18cm and 11x14" sheet films to "Out of stock (Expected back aprox. 25.10.2022)" which suggests a new delivery is coming, hopefully.
I've been watching Fotoimpex in hope of getting some 11x14. For some time there were dates specified as when it would be back, but that's now changed to just "out of stock".
Is there any news regarding the availability of Bergger sheet film in 2022?
I use the Stearman Press SP-810 with two 13x18cm or 5x7" sheets at a time. It works well. I load it in a changing bag and then process in daylight.
The Svedovsky web site works fine for me. I really like my Svedovsky 11x14. Although I bought it used, they have been very responsive to my questions and I bought a beautiful 11x14 plate holder...
It tried developing 11x14 double sided Fuji HR-U green in my Jobo print drum today and was pleasantly surprised that I didn't get marks or scratches from the ribs on the interior of the drum. This...
Bravo! What a wonderful camera and I appreciated the effective presentation of how it came to be.
You can do this with a "reducing back" which has a 4x5 ground glass & spring back but mounts onto your Chamonix 8x10, e.g. https://www.chamonixviewcamera.com/accessories/reducingbacks
That's very interesting to see 12x20 color. I'm curious to know how you scanned it.
I've narrowed it down to a sweet spot for my own purposes.
4x5 - Horseman L45 monorail. Mostly used at home. A great camera and stable/heavy.
5x7 - Argentum Excursor I. This is the camera I...
I'd still be interested to know whether the Canham (et al) 6x17 roll film holders are in fact compatible with the camera, which would be a big plus.
I was intrigued to read in the B&H description of the Arca Swiss 5x7 :
"The Arca-Swiss 5x7 is a high quality professional's tool that is ideal for use with 5x7 film (a host of B&W options remain),...
The front standard is very stable using the lenses I have. This 5x7 camera uses Linhof/Technika lens boards.
With this Argentum camera I mostly use a Nikkor W 210 f 5.6 which produces a very...
This is my Argentum Excursor I. 5x7 camera that I received in November 2020. I have been enjoying it a lot. Very basic movements: front rise/fall, front axis tilt, front base tilt and rear base tilt....
I use the Konica Hexanon GRII 300mm lens for this purpose on my Svedovsky 11x14 with 1100mm bellows. The lens actually covers 11x14 at infinity wide open.
There is very good food culture in West Marin. Fresh Tomales Bay oysters at the Marshall Store are awesome if you like oysters. (https://themarshallstore.com) When I bring visitors we head to...
It's mainly because I have several cameras now, each quite different. Once I got my lightweight 5x7 (an Argentum Excursor I.) I have used that for any hike or general out of the house/office/studio...
I love my Horseman L45 and use it much more than my lightweight folding 4x5. Very solid cameras that are still available at a reasonable price!
I have and use a Durst F30 for this application, printing 35mm no larger than 8x10 in an occasional temporary micro bathroom darkroom situation. It packs down into the original box and goes on a...
Svedovsky cameras of Poland ( http://svedovsky.com/accessories/wet-plate-holders/ ) . I recently received a very nice 11x14 wet/dry plate holder from them.
I've been using the Harman Direct Positive paper in 11x14 size. It has a slight curl out of the box, which is not ideal but as the emulsion is in the inner part of the curl it helps me load film...
I have ordered various items from him, and he's always been very quick in producing the goods and shipping them to me. A+
I don't imagine I would have ordered a 5x7 back for the camera if I had bought it new. The camera included 8x10 and 5x7 backs which have proven fun and useful. Primarily in studio portraits and still...
I've been very happy with my Argentum 5x7 I received last year. My other 5x7 is a reducing back for my Svedovsky 11x14.
I've been using my Jobo 2830 with extension module to process 11x14 sheets of FB Ilford Harman Direct Positive paper. I do the final rinse in a separate tray. It works fine.
I'm pleased to report that my Svedovsky 11x14 fits nicely with room for more in the "Granite Gear Traditional 3.5 Portage Pack 496184-05" that I ordered after reading this thread.
Voce Cameras has several newly made cameras of this type (tailboard with spring back) in the photos in his web site. https://vocecameras.com
I found a set of a half dozen 5x12 xray film hangers for sale in preparation for using this size film.
Argentum Camera Manufactura of Hungary makes 8x8 and 10x10 format cameras and film holders.
A beautiful camera and I am intrigued by the 5x12" format. Did you manufacture this yourself? Can you share details of the process? Thanks!
