  1. Re: Greta Thunberg wet plate photos by Shane Balkowitsch

That is so neat. With all the press coverage, this is the most humble and endearing. So nice, maybe she can spread the word about large format next.

    Beautiful images!

Re: Problem with Beseler Universal VC head

AC lines are so noisy these days. Try to use an AM radio it's nearly impossible. I've noticed driving down the highway, buses and trucks emit all kinds of weird static I pick up on my AM radio. SW...

    Re: A refrigerator for storage

I have a smaller 600 Liter refrigerator / freezer full of film and paper. If my wife tries to put a bottle of white wine in to chill, I tell her "it's not for food!"

Yes, the LED in terms of a projection printer light source is new to me. I have used ordinary dichro quartz halogen heads for the last 30 years, for color and for black and white. The Beseler...
  7. Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

Beautiful stuff. Could be used to moor a Zeppelin. The closest thing I have to this kind of stuff is a Saltzman tripod with the neat low angle out rigger. I love this stuff it's simply beautiful.

Yes, Drew has helped me figure mine out. I flipped the switch on a old Kodak electrostatic film brush, that flipped out the head. I am resigned to trying to keep them alive until I decide on...

I've talked to Beseler about the new LED dichro head that is just now becoming available. Looks like a beautiful simple machine. It's a additive head with subtractive inputs. I've not talked to...

Clean the light sensor in the head. If it's not getting enough light it will cut off current to the lamps. Pull the diffusion can, the sensor is at the bottom of the head. I feel your frustration. I...

All the "real" problems I've had are in the head. I really suggest you cal Kevin Brown at KHB, from what I remember from talking to him is there's no real documentation of the software, no parts etc....

One other note. Normal operation, you turn it on the machine is ready to go instantly. It doesn't light up the lamps etc. The most common problem I've had is corroded lamp sockets and pins. Beseler...

It's probably not repairable unless you get lucky and find a stuck button. Call Kevin Brown at KHB, he will be your best chance. I would return to seller if possible.

Re: Problem with Beseler Universal VC head

Depends on the exact formula. Bowling balls are made with PU resins, it's tough stuff.
  25. Re: Midtone Machines - Automatic Film Processing Machine

So are you still planning on vacuum casting with PU? Should be bulletproof.

Re: XTOL Replenished Facts vs Fables

I don't doubt it. I am used to one shot on the Jobo. I was replenishing Flexicolor C-41 for months until someone pointed me to the Kodak directions that said don't do that. My bad!
