Hi everyone,
It has been a while, after my series with Happy Kids that I made new work (also due to Covid).
But I also taken up shooting portraits in between.
Here I shot the frontman of band...
Someone said it could be due to the negatives being a little more thick and the scanner needs to push light through.
I just tried that, with a negative from a previous series and I see no problems with it.
Well, I have been processing images like this, well, I think about 80 in total. And never had this problem. :'(
I also made this while scanning. And it seems the brown glares also occure outside the negative itself
(scanner = Epson V800)
...
Hi guys,
I have been scanning my latest shoot (8 negatives) of 4x5 portra 160/400.
But with each scan I notice this brown glow on top on exactly the same spot.
I did nothing special, or very...
Ok, for my final question.
When rinsing in distilled water. Does that mean I fill the spearman tank with distilled water, with photo-flo, and then just put the negative into it?
It must not be ...
The thing is... in the past I have developed many negatives in the same way.
Ending with a normal rinse (no wetting agent or...) and never had that problem.
Now I just forgot the last rinse all...
So for the future developements.
I do all the steps... and right before the final wash, I put a drop of washing soap in my Stearmann press, and then let the water run until the soap runs out?

A shot during my 4X5 photoshoot.. taken with a 645.
70% of that explanation sounds like science to me. :-)
2X2 bin? What is that even?
One problem hasn't been solved and the next problem has arrived.
So...
I'm scanning my first batch after a while now (120 + 4x5) and when scanning normal it's no problem but when I scan with...
So yesterday evening I developed 1 roll of 120 and 8 pieces of 4X5 film of kodak portra.
Everything went well (but it was late) and I hung up those negatives to dry.
To day I went to check them...
Little thing is that I do not use Epson Scan but have bought Silver Fast from the beginnen. :-)
I don't understand about the focus you mention? Are you talking about an autofocus? Because I believe V800 had not such a thing? As mentioned by others. Not by own experience.
I did a scan on the...
I believe I did, indeed, scan without sharpening because I rather have the control myself.
Is it possible because I scanned the two adjusted filmholders, without préscanning again?
That couldn't be...

These are the results.
Hi guys,
I am re-scanning my images and I know you can adjust the height of the filmholder because the scanner's factory standards can be a little of.
So, I have scanned an image with the...
So I contacted the book designer about print profile and she told me the next:
Printprofile is CMYK 300DPI PDF X-4: 2010 concerning 2012 conditions.
Does that make any sense to you guys?
Well, the book designer already work wih a printer company who have great experience in printing books (photography, read, etc...)
But I'm more interested about what I should keep in mind while...
I'll kick this one of...

Hi Paul,
No I am entirely self-publishing but am thinking about using a crowdfunding site. At this moment I am thinking about Kickstarter.
The book designer told me to:
Save as TIFF or PNG...
Hi everyone,
so my journey with the series Happy Kids which I'm making is almost at it's final form to be printed into a book.
It's going to be a hardcover book containing the whole series...
I must admit, normally if I apply such a fade, I do it intentionally, now it was more by accident.
One of my first images shot with my new (second) Intrepid

Hi all,
Thanks for feedback already.
Concerning developer and chems I use Tetenal Colortec. And use demineralized water.
and maybe I should consider glass storage 'brown' bottles?
Hi guys,
sorry I should ask this sort of question; again.
But I'm pretty insecure if it comes to chemicals because I do not want to miss a 4X5 negative because it was not okay.
Anyways. I...
None, but I rather not wait until I loose one. Each image counts.
But as you know, chems are expensive too, and not the best (nature-wise) so I rather not spill too much.
I have been considering moving over to a patterson tank with the mod54.
Don't know, but I have no trust in the Stearman at this point no more and my images are to valuable to loose to such a problem.
Thanks guys,
I have considered the wetting the rubber thing. But did not try.
I do close the tank with the caps on it.
And fill it always to the top.
Any other people developing 4X5 in a Stearman Press.
through time it starts to feel more and more unreliable.
Do others also have experience? The rubber closing off looks intact. But even when...
Thank you so much.
Did not see anyone starting a new thread.

Hi guys,
I was mixing my chems (Tetenal) which were standing still from beginning March, lockdown.
Now, I got to part 2 of my BLX mix, when I saw these particules showed up.
The question:...
I knew that those notches were there to tell differences, but did not know it was also different per ISO. Cool
Have any of you had this problem:
I have some loaded disks, some with 160, and some with 400 portra.
But I lost my paper which states what disks are loaded with 160 and which with 400.
I am a...
No, but as we all know, these images are only made to be printed, so now digital format will it ever do it full justice. Right?
For me Instagram is more of a showcase in preview-kind of way, and a...
I understand, but not all LF/MF portrait photographers are here.
And also: this is good, to share with other LF/MF portrait photographers, but maybe we there are none-LF/MF photographers, who also...
