  1. Re: "New" Agfa Ansco 8x10 Universal Back Mounting Issue

    I think Dugan has it.
  2. Re: Need help to identify this Voigtländer brass lens

Actually, with these Voigtlander Euryscops the f6 (Series IV) version almost always has better coverage than the f8 (Series VI version.) That 'C' is a challenge. We had a similar lens asked about...
  3. Re: Is there such as thing as a modern, fast, compact 360 for 8x10?

Yes, it's same as the Congo as far as I know. Mine is in a Copal 3S from the late 80's.
  4. Re: Is there such as thing as a modern, fast, compact 360 for 8x10?

Sure there is. The Osaka Commercial 360mm f6.8. Very sharp, light and usually cheap. It's a late coated Japanese Tessar. I love mine.
  5. Re: Were Verito 18” lenses made in different barrel lengths?

That's exactly what I was after. The 22.25" Verito I recently picked up is mounted in barrel with the flange at the back. My 12x20 Canham can hold the lens up but it does want to start tipping...
  6. Re: Were Verito 18” lenses made in different barrel lengths?

As it turns out, I ended up with the shorter Verito with the Studio shutter pictured in this thread via KEH. Small world.

  10. Re: Source needed for KCN, potassium chloride

It's amazing stuff. And at the dilutions used for fixing plates, not particularly worrisome if used with care. I do have some, but you'd have to be in SF to pick it up. I'm mostly interested in...

Re: Where to find a [scarce view camera]?

At no point in post #2 do you indicate you deleted the specifics in those brackets. Thus it makes the OP seem quite odd and this thread ridiculous.

Re: Where to find a [scarce view camera]?

This is so silly. We have all regretted getting rid of certain gear. Sometimes you get the opportunity to buy another example, sometime you don't. I can't imagine any piece of gear so rare that...

  16. Re: Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Serie III No 7 360mm f6 COVERAGE or lens catalogue

Have you ever shot ultra large format? You might consider starting with 8x10 in order to get a feel for large format portraiture and landscape work. Ultra large format portraiture presents some...
  17. Re: Voigtländer Euryscop No. 6 Series IV Real World Coverage ?

    http://www.antiquecameras.net/1890lenscatalogue.html

See page 7. It covers 14x17 wide open and 18x22 with a smaller stop. I suspect it would cover 20x24 with a small stop. It's a 21.3" (542mm)...
  18. Re: Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Serie III No 7 360mm f6 COVERAGE or lens catalogue

It's not going to cover 20x24. 19" (48cm) Dagor is what you want for that.
  19. Re: Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Serie III No 7 360mm f6 COVERAGE or lens catalogue

It's a great lens. That is an early example. Likely with a different aperture scale. Dagors tend not to be super sharp wide open. You'll need to stop it down a bit for sharpness across the field....
  20. Re: Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Serie III No 7 360mm f6 COVERAGE or lens catalogue

It's a f7.7 lens and should cover all the way to 12x20.

    Re: Universal Heliar for 8x10

36cm is the sweet spot for 8x10 portraiture in my mind. You'll want a robust front standard. My 8x10 Deardorff can handle the regular 36cm Heliar with a brace under the Packard shutter, but the...

Re: Film holder question for F&S 12x20

If you have the 4 holders (especially the nice AWB holders), it is better to modify the camera.
  27. Re: 12x20 / 14x17 conversion back for Phillips 11x14 Explorer

I believe he did make some 8x16 and larger cameras. But these days, you want the Chamonix. I have a Canham 12x20, and wouldn't call it rigid. It does the job and I like the build quality of Keith's...
  28. Re: Vogtlander Petzval rear optical element dimensions

Yes, it's definitely better to try find a complete rear group that will fit the Voigtlander barrel. I'm surprised how good the image quality is on my hybrid Voigtlander 286.
  29. Re: Vogtlander Petzval rear optical element dimensions

Happy to take whatever measurements your friend needs from my lens. You shouldn't worry too much about giving that retaining ring on top of the rear group a good hard twist. Put some dishwashing...
  30. Re: Vogtlander Petzval rear optical element dimensions

    Nope. Too small.
  31. Re: Vogtlander Petzval rear optical element dimensions

LOL. Good luck with that. Actually, I do have one of these as well (286mm f3.6) for which I swapped out the horrible front achromat for something better. I do have the rear air spaced pair from...
  32. Re: Voigtlander (Pre Euriscope) "A." engraving

Hmm, that does look very "Pre-Euryscop." And in the catalog it mentions that the A petzval comes mounted with rack and pinon. If this is an aplanat, from the size of the lens I would say it would...
  33. Re: Voigtlander (Pre Euriscope) "A." engraving

I did just find a reference to an "A" lens in the 1876 McCollin catalog. It was listed as a petzval of 167mm focal length for plates up to 4x5.25"
  34. Re: Voigtlander (Pre Euriscope) "A." engraving

The Euryscop was introduced in 1878, so serial number should be closer to 24,000 for an early Euryscop. Both my "Pre-Euryscops" are in the 24,000 range.
  35. Re: Voigtlander (Pre Euriscope) "A." engraving

    Pictures would help.
  36. Re: Post your 8"x20" images in honor of August 2020 aka 8/20

George, it took me a long time to get there, but the work you shared in View Camera in the early 2000's was one of the main reason I wanted to shoot 8x20.

Re: Help me identify this 8x20

The blessing and curse of 8x20 accessories is that though they are generally quite hard to find, they tend to be cheaper than 7x17 or 12x20 because the format is not that popular. It's definitely...
  39. Re: Post your 8"x20" images in honor of August 2020 aka 8/20

I've shot a bit more than 30 sheets of 8x20 over the last few years, with a few keepers. Haven't really found a good way to scan them, though I have made a number of Kallitypes and Pt/Pd prints...
  40. Re: Verito 22 1/4 inch Extension Lens Serial Numbers?

    206585

You can just make out the 37xxx number. Hmmm. These extension lenses were introduced in 1922, so now I don't have any idea what this number might relate to.
