Thank you Mal.
A bit of an update. My apprentice Chris saw the new still and immediately pointed out hoe inefficient the condesnser section is. So at Home Depot yesterday I picked up 40 feet of 3/8 inch diameter...
Thank you Jim:
I wish I had known about RO before buying a still. I should have done this research first.
Thank you Kevin
Thank you Alan:
I remember hearing about reverse osmosis filters used on submarines in the 1960's. I always thought they were expensive so never thought of them when it came time to ensure a good...
Thanks Willie:
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I am shooting 11x14 film at nearly $20 per shot. I am also building a photo vehicle with platform that I am into $15K so far, It is...
Hi Peter:
Yes, calcium is my main issue as well. At least I think it is, sort of a poop brown hard material also some white stuff I think may be magnesium.
Thank you rfesk:
Hello revdoc:
I have two dehumidifiers, I have looked seriously at the condensate from them, they both have very dirty tanks, I would not put that on my prints.
Hey Tundra:
Well, it is 70 miles to town and back. That cost has to be added in too, and my still was less than $200.
Thank you diversey:
Yes, I was shocked that the cheapest distilled water I could find was $2.39 per gallon. Also, that is a 70 mile round trip for me. It made sense to buy a still for under $200....
Thank you Jason:
Hi Vaughn:
I do not know about the water that comes from a dehumidifier. I know it says don't drink it on either of my dehumidifiers. So if I cannot drink it, I do not know how consistent it is,...
I am pursuing some intense Zone work and need extremely consistent chemistry. I use a Big Berkety for our drinking water also. Thanks for your response.
Thanks Tundra, that is exactly why I wanted to use distilled, and making my own rather than buying it is pretty much how I try to live if possible.
Missouri is very interested in having free citizens. It is one of the major reasons why I moved here a couple years back.
Thank you Paul, I did not know that was an option. I will look into RO. Why would that be better than distilling?
Hello Friends:
I recently completed construction of my fifth darkroom after moving everything we own from Near Seattle to South of St. Louis. Here we have well water which is pretty heavy in...
This thread is now closed. I will not be responding to it any longer.
Thank you everyone, I hope some darkroom builder got something out of this.

OK, looks like all the votes are in. Each of us should buy a Beseler CB-7 just in case we end up in a wheelchair. Thanks Tin Can, I think you were the only one with considerations for the readership....
Wow! a screamin deal for sure. Anybody else have one of these for sale? I don't shoot 5x7 but would love to have one just for looking at.
A long long time ago I bought a pallet of Leitz Tiltall Professional tripods from the University of WA. I think there were 40 of them on the pallet, all black, all beat to death. There are still 2 of...
Wow, what an incredible enlarger.
Not much info online about the Beseler 5x7.
I will look him up
Hello Tin Can:
Yes, that is a consideration. I have been in a wheelchair once for a few months. It makes everything more difficult. Why is the CB-7 better for wheelchair users? I mean all of the...
I have 2 Omega Micromega Grain focusers. I replaced the mirrors on them (Make sure you use first surface mirror if you do replace the mirror. You can find awesome huge chunks of first surface mirrors...
Nice website Reinhold. That picture of you on the front looks very much like Edward Weston with his Kodak 2D.

Hi John:
Thanks for the response. This lab was set up to be one side during the design stage months ago. So yeah, it makes sense. The lab was set up around the dimensions of the sink and dry bench....
Hey Ed:
I recently moved to the middle of a 1.5 million acre National Forest. You can see my darkroom in a post here "Starting the darkroom build. What to consider". I do not personally use cesium...
Okie Dokie:
Now to the reason for this thread. I thought perhaps some of our members may have been considering building a lab in their homes and don't know what is important and what isn't. Thus...
Hey Tin Can:
I also only process B+W and have stopped using battery acid and Thalidomide in my processing. But it still gets damned hot in Summer and cold in winter. The venting above the sink is...
Hello John:
The lab is 5 1/2 feet wide and 24 1/2 feet long (1.67m x 7.5,m). It is for one person. I rarely have visitors.
Thanks for the question.

I look at a lot of darkroom builds online. Many people just start building and get what they end up with. With this build, my last one, I tried to plan rather than just build.240888240889
Finally got three images to upload. First shows the 2x2 I screwed all around the room where I wanted the ce3iling panels to sit on. The second pic shows the back of one of the ceiling panels. The...
I am trying to straighten it out now because I will be offline for a week.
Thanks Philip
A ha!!! OK, I will dump some images and try again. Can you drag and drop images into lfpf? OK, I have deleted all but 2 of the 200 messages allowed. I only had 71 messages so should not have been up...

Well, I have a bunch of progress to show. but even though I have uploaded photos here for a long time, it no longer works. Yahoo is making me wait an hour before I can log into my email account which...
