    Re: Large Format Landscapes

I like this one. Chaos and symmetry abound in this image.
  3. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

Unusual composition. Looks as though he is anguished in some manner. In some respects the plastic curtain adds an uncomfortable feeling to it.
  4. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

Overall, it looks great. I see a couple of hotspots, rope and around front of name. Good tonality and contrast. Have you thought about split toning or single tone Louie sepia or selimium?

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

    Thank you.

Yes. They are correct. But that is also a subjective thing since we are not looking to match a color based on its patented blend, but on how we interpret the scene. I find Extar to be...
  8. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

Its possible, but could be cumbersome. Similar to the internal carry like Fstop.

    Re: Changing bags and dust

Use black gafffers tape. Better than duct tape and won't peel paint off or leave residue.

    Re: Changing bags and dust

I always use a small changing tent. What kind of dust problems? Pinhole type issues?

Let me call them. It would be in their close out section, but I didn't see it. They suggested they could make them to order if interest was shown. Let me see if t hey would tell me how many it would...

    Re: post your trees!

Here is like the 13th image I ever took on 4x5. Shot 3 years ago on D100 film. I had this developed for me. I think my skills have improved since then. I would like to visit this area again and...
  17. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

This really good, in addition to the suggest crop in from the left, I might also bring it up just a tad from the bottom and down from the top. Overall, I rate this 9 out of 10. Lighting, tones, etc...
  18. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

Thank you. I was still learning, still am, on how to correct this in the camera with rear tilt, but I agree, it worked well here and it is subtle, not I your face.
  19. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

Pack with all camera gear that includes 6 loaded film holders weighs 28 lbs. So, with three days of survival gear, will be about 60lbs. Add a couple lbs for extra film and changing bag.

  23. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

Thanks. I am not a rock star or hiking, but I refuse to go down. I will do this till I drop.

As for SW, in AZ I haven't personal had issues with condensation on inside of tent, but my tent is...
  24. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

Camera gear last I checked was about 20-25 lbs. With every, probably close to 50-60. That includes 100 Oz of water to start.

I'm walking a couple miles every night with it to get into shape for...
  25. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

Just went on a 2 mile walk with it and my 4x5. Felt pretty good, adjust waist belt upwards to other mounting point. I lije the fact it is no taller than my head. I walked under several trees with no...
  26. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

I will. It will be part of my losing 50 lbs of muscle/fat. Time to come back to reality and give up body building. 55 is not an age to be 250 at 5'10"
  27. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

They just discontinued it. It was under the close out tab. I don't see it now. If you wanted it and called them, they would probably make one for you. They discontinued as it is labor intensive...

  29. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

I believe I used front rise and rear fall (too much). This was one of my first attempts and knowing more about tilt in theory than practical application. So, I missed it. I'd like to say I nailed...
  30. Re: My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

Currently I have a Kelty 2 person tent.

I am in the SW so we don't usually have issues with condensation.

  32. My new backpack, Seek Outside Exposure 5000

What a back pack. 2 thumbs up. I can take all my 4x5 gear in an Fstop XL ICU and have enough room for all camping gear and 3-5 days of food.

    4x5 camera, 90mm Schneider Super Angulon f/4.5,...
  33. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

I did use tilt and rise/fall. I forgot to check the bellows (well didn't know I should) it was a typical bellows, and it covered part of the lens and vignettes the top. So this is a significant crop....

  38. Re: Your Best Photograph from the Previous Month - Critique and Discussion Encouraged

I think I did a slight tilt have to look at my notes tonight. I leveled the camera, but I think being at the very edge it was gonna happen. I could have backed up a bit and go a a bit wider like a...
