Re: Budget wide angle lens for 8x10

Schneider also rated it at 95 at f/45 (=359.7mm).

Also owned and tested. Their main problem is bad lens variation in the earliest ones (the uncoated one and the early coated ones with the red...

Re: Budget wide angle lens for 8x10

I'm a little surprised nobody mentioned a 165mm f/6.8 Angulon. Great coverage. Slightly wider than the OP's 90mm.

    Re: Fujinon W 360mm

Mine with the marking outside the barrel is multicoated on the front cell (or maybe just the front element, I don't have it in front of me) and single coated on the rear cell.

    Re: 12" Goerz Dagor?

The early Schneider Symmars were dagor designs rather than plasmats, too. I believe they came in 12"/30cm focal lengths.

    Service manual for Grafmatic 4x5

Hey, is there a service manual pdf for a Grafmatics anywhere? I've done some searching with no success.

    Re: Copal 3 Shutter

Yeah, and in some cases, it would probably be cheaper with the lens. Copal 3's alone tend to go for more money than ones with old lenses most people don't want. The Symmar convertible 300mm f/5.6 is...

  10. Re: portrait lens that will fold inside crown graphic

One thing to keep in mind is that magnification at portrait distances is greater for large format, so you benefit in getting a tighter AoV with less perspective distortion at shorter focal infinity...

  16. Re: Head and Shoulder Portrait Lens for 11x14 Camera

Yeah, that's because they don't work on larger formats at infinity. But you're not shooting at infinity. You're shooting at nearly 1:1 magnification, so the image circle is no longer the limiting...
  17. Re: Head and Shoulder Portrait Lens for 11x14 Camera

The thing about head & shoulders is that many shorter lenses with smaller image circles will now cover the film format at that magnification. If you want something with a large aperture, a 360mm or...
