  3. Re: Lenswork -- Rabbi Sinclair feature

I just tried it. It worked just fine for me.
  4. Re: Lenswork -- Rabbi Sinclair feature

Oh good. I've been waiting for this. I'm buying it today!
  5. Re: Issue #18 - Focus Magazine - HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

Schiller's work was reproduced in 400 line screen via a duotone. I don't believe his work has ever been reproduced in such fine detail before. I hope he will be pleased.
  6. Re: Issue #18 - Focus Magazine - HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

Features are always nice. Our interviews are what really separate FOCUS from the pack.
  7. Re: Issue #18 - Focus Magazine - HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

All of this is correct, so far.

Specifically, it was not just stocks. As I mentioned, galleries with existing contracts with FOCUS feared they were going to be unable to pay for their next ad,...
  8. Re: Issue #18 - Focus Magazine - HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

Issue #18 is pretty much done printing. One last sig to go on Tuesday. Headed to the bindery later in the week and we should be done early next week. From there, the distributor will pick it up and...

Congratulations, Bob. Running an art gallery in today's economy has got to be a challenge. I hope you succeed.

  11. Re: Would you sell your work to decorators?

You haven't been here long enough. The Lounge was a real knee slapper back in the day!
  12. Re: Would you sell your work to decorators?

What's with the Michael Kenna knock?
  13. Re: Would you sell your work to decorators?

Then are galleries doing a disservice to a photographer by over-qualifying potential customers? If I want my photography in as many homes as possible, but my dealer refuses to sell my work to just...
  14. Re: Only 10,000 collectors of photography

What defines a collector? Is there more than one category of a collector? Can a collector be a decorator?

I define a photography collector as someone who purchases two or more photographs. Of...

  16. Re: Would you sell your work to decorators?

Good -- I expected this kind of reaction from most of you.

I'm having an interesting conversation with a photo dealer who refuses to sell any of the work he sells to people who want to use the...
  17. Would you sell your work to decorators?

Very simple question -- would you sell your art to someone so they could decorate their home or office with your work?

Should art be used as decoration?

  19. Re: Only 10,000 collectors of photography

I highly doubt this number is accurate. I had a conversation recently with someone who gave me the same figure.

There are millions, literally, millions of art collectors in the US alone....
  20. Re: Issue #18 - Focus Magazine - HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

I dunno... the sheet sizes are HUGE. 25 x 38. Maybe in NYC our offices and apts are too small, but that's a pretty big piece of paper. To have 13 of them... but to each their own... I'll see if I can...

    Thank you, Kirk!
  22. Re: Issue #18 - Focus Magazine - HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

Not that I know of... I'm actually not related to any Spivak's. The Spivak side of my family (my father's side) is very small. If you lived in Tampa Bay, FL in the mid-late 1990s and you liked good...

    Literally.

I've received, in the past six months, literally hundreds of e-mails from subscribers wanting to know where their issue, that they paid for with their hard-earned money, was. The truth...

I have yet to find any mass produced product or service that offers excellent or even good customer service. Verizon is in one of the worst offenders out there right now.

Steve, you are in control of the magazine - it's YOUR baby. It's YOUR publication. You could have easily rectified a situation over the phone today. You chose not to. That's sad.
