    Could the heater be "leaking" current somehow, or pulling too much current that when the motor starts up it takes it over the limit? I'm sure Omer Hecht at Catlabs could fix it if he had the parts....

    If you can hook up your separate DC power supply through the switch it should regulate the speed of the motor. I have a suspicion it's something on the 110V side that's blowing the fuse.
