Re: An Anthology Of Silver Prints

Nice prints. Are there common features like type of film, paper, etc?
  2. Re: Does a Photograph's medium change your opinion of it?

I used to have around thirty 16x20 color prints mounted in 22x26" aluminum frames around the house. When we moved to NJ, the Mrs. insisted there were too many for the walls. So now I'm "allowed"...

Re: an idiot question but need help!

I think he was pulling your leg. Humor sometimes gets lost on the web.
  4. Re: Does a Photograph's medium change your opinion of it?

It might not be a "final photograph", but without being able to digitize it and post it on the web, very few people would get to enjoy it.
  5. Re: Does a Photograph's medium change your opinion of it?

I recall listening to a music producer who handled the technical part of creating music on DVDs. He used equipment worth thousands and applied all his technical experience to make a master album. ...
  6. Re: Does a Photograph's medium change your opinion of it?

Drew, wouldn't that be an appreciation of the craft rather than prizing it on aesthetics or content as a non-photographer might consider it? Not that there's anything wrong with valuing a job well...

Re: Gradients on short edge of 4x5 Negs

The whites on the girl seem to be very bright too. Have you taken that into consideration? Exposure? Also, without knowing how you edited the scans (too much white slider, etc.?), it may be throwing...

    Re: Notched Film Holders, Examples

Picture 21 and 22 subjects are described the same as are 23 and 24. Without notches, how would you tell afterwards which is which?
  10. Re: Does a Photograph's medium change your opinion of it?

Your post changed my mind. At first, I discounted the medium choosing the effect of the picture as a whole rather than its format. But I've changed my mind. It is true that the type of photo can...

    Re: Greetings from Kansas

Oh, that's interesting but I don't know if any of my work is good enough to sell.
  12. Re: Does a Photograph's medium change your opinion of it?

Most normal people don't give a hoot about the equipment. They either like the picture or don't. Only we forum nerds care about things like f stop and pixels. God help us if we only discussed the...

    Re: Notched Film Holders, Examples

Fortunately, I have all new holders. Of course, that doesn't help when I shot two exposures of the same thing at different settings and then forgot to remove the dark slide for one of them.

Since I use different films at one time, I use this method to label my holders. The Chromalabels are 1/2" in diameter. They self-stick on the holders. But they can be easily removed and replaced...

Re: Strange black blur spots on 4x5 320 Trix

Wearing rubber gloves just doesn't work for me. So, when I load or remove 4x5 film in the holder, I wash my hands first to get all the oils off. Does that help?

    Re: Velvia Discontinued?

I wouldn;t buy 100 any more. Even if you can get it, you may find that the labs won't process it because of the chemical in it that's been banned.

    Re: Meditation on house fans

Electronic flash tends to freeze movement due to their high speed of let's say 1,000th of a second flash or more. It seems that you would want to use continuous ambient light to get blur.
