Now that mention it I think you are correct. I even used it on my Eastman 2-D. I think I used the wollensak on the 8x10 and also with the 4x10 Back I had.
The white piece at the rear is a new piece of wood the replace the original that most of the screws would not hold. The other piece is because the the tripod support plate did not give enough support...
