  1. Re: Scotland Trip: Wet Weather Hints Medium Format

You can take a large freezer bag and cut holes in it and use rubber bands to keep it tight around the view finder & lens. Use something else to cover the lens & viewfinder. Not the best, but it'll...

    Re: Spotmeter for Zone System

I've used the Minolta Spot Meter F for decades. The reason I chose it is, when the A (average button) is depressed, the meter gives a reading in 1/10's of a stop above the stop set when the A was...

  4. Re: Mounting a filter safely to Caltar II-N 210mm lens

I'd just add one or more empty filter rings to add the distance between the glass filter and the glass of the lens. I agree a rigid lens hood would offer more protection.

  8. Re: Do you standardize your screw-on filters by thread size?

I use step up rings on all of the lenses to get to my standard Series 9 filters. I use the series 9s on all of my lenses, including my 6x7. It keeps things simple. I bought a series of step up...

Re: Studio lights for a hack

    I have Mole-Richardson tungsten lights and Speed-O-Tron strobes. I have 3 strobe packs -- 2/2400 ws & 1/4800 ws. My largest light is 2/750w Fresnels, 1/750w soft light, 2/250w Fresnels. I also...

Re: 85b filter with B&W film?

I have. It works. Be sure to add 1/3 stop since the B&W film's ASA is for daylight & is 1/3 stop slower for Tungsten.

Re: Teach me about Lens Design

I'd look into the Imagons. I have two of them, a 200mm & a 300mm. The amount of diffusion depends on the disk that is used. Love them!

Re: question about stacking square filters

Meter a gray card through the filters to get your compensation. If you have a meter on the 67, put the filters on and meter through the lens. When I was shooting cinema, I stacked as many as 9...

    Re: Panoramic Head Recommendations

You can use any head to do this. You need to find the nodal point of the lens (it's not always in the center of the barrel). Then you need to get that point over the center of the rotation point. ...

Re: Using a recessed lensboard backwards

Also, you could use a diopter.
  23. Re: Me, my inexperienced butt, and the backcountry

I stay in motels and usually load/unload film in a closet (bathroom) at night. I wouldn't worry about image loss, & if you are, give the film an added density of 1/3 stop.

    Yes
  26. Re: pros/cons of two different lenses at the same focal length?

Umm, the bellows are used for focusing the lens. This is focusing the lens. If one moves the camera closer to a subject, the bellows are extended & the image is larger -- not because the bellows...
