Again, please check the website I linked in an earlier post. You'll find all the info you need, including tools.

  2. Re: Bought a nice Linhof Master Technika Classic. Can I do the CLA myself to save mon

I feel really bad for you. As someone else mentioned, we've all been there - I have a totally useless Canon QL that I was duped into buying (nothing as high as a Technika!) and that I intend to pick...
  3. Re: Bought a nice Linhof Master Technika Classic. Can I do the CLA myself to save mon

So many red lights here. First, that these serious flaws weren't disclosed before the sale is borderline criminal. But what I don't get, and makes me doubtful of the honesty of the seller, is how...

    My feelings exactly.
  8. Re: “Good composition is merely the strongest way of seeing.”

Thanks for correcting me Drew. Don't know why I wrote that, since I've been deep in Weston's life and work these days. Slip of the tongue, I mean pen, I mean keyboard, I guess.:D
  9. Re: “Good composition is merely the strongest way of seeing.”

Robert Louis Stevenson was in Monterey in 1879, staying with friends and spending a lot of time walking along the coast. Chances are he did go to Point Lobos.

Doesn't mean he wrote Treasure Island...
  10. Re: “Good composition is merely the strongest way of seeing.”

Fascinating. I actually don't mind the old-style editing and story telling, nor the general hagiographic tone - only the new-age music got on my nerves, as I had forgotten how much of an annoying fad...
  11. Poll: Re: Seeking 4x5 Lens Advice - Which Lens To Keep - Fujinon Or Nikkor 150mm 5.6

In case of two similar lenses, go with filter size. If you already have lenses of same filter size as any of the two, or looking to get similar filter-sized lenses, go with that.

    It'll avoid you...

Re: Which field camera for usage with 90mm lens

This. Accessing the switch to open and close the shutter on the recess board is a PITA.

Plus, I had to buy a special - i.e., expensive - Linhof shutter release cable that would fit on the older...

Re: Which field camera for usage with 90mm lens

As a P.S. to my previous post, not sure a recess board is needed. Mine came with the lens. You should do a search about that. Plenty of people with a lot more knowledge than me can answer. As I said,...

Re: Which field camera for usage with 90mm lens

I never use the Wista because mine has a small problem in the back - and I do prefer the feel of the Technika -, but, as you can see, plenty of range with the movements (rise shown with the 90mm).

Re: Which field camera for usage with 90mm lens

I have a Linhof Super Technika IV with a Schneider Super Angulon 90mm F/8 with a recessed board. Using such a huge 90mm on the Technika IV is a bit awkward but manageable. I don't use it that much,...

And many don't. My point is don't make a rule out of it. It's a convention, not an obligation.

Re: Reflection or light on an eye

A catchlight is a convention and, as many conventions, it is neither necessary nor obligatory, especially in outdoor work (which is an essential aspect of the OP's question).

Re: Newcomers to LF: First Read The Book

The "Ansel Adams/zone system is a religion/cult" spiel is getting old and usually comes from people who never bothered to read his books.

Re: Technique for focusing "into your scene"

  35. Question for yellow filter users: #8, #12 or #15?

  36. Re: Shutter release adaptor for Technika recessed lens board
