  1. Re: Is it possible to change contrast of final print?

Farmer solution for highlights, can even be applied locally with a sponge. Selenium toner can increase blackness, so can drying (baryta paper only) on a hot dryer. Drying with chrome plates instead...

I've never laid hands on a Sinar Pan/Tilt Head -hence my question- but that's exactly what I suspected. I absolutely **will** pass on this one. Thanks everyone for your input!

    Sinar Pan/Tilt Head question

I can buy a Sinar Pan/Tilt Head with a crack in the side disk, see attachment. Is that disk used for tensioning the head or is just decorative? In other words, is it (un)wise to buy it?

  5. Re: Learning about environmental portraiture - which photographers should I study?

Couldn't agree more! What about Mary Ellen Mark, or Edouard Boubat? And some other great present day (both Dutch, I'm sorry) photographers: Anton Corbijn (B&W 35mm and MF), Rineke Dijkstra (4x5"...
  6. Re: What portable lighting equipment do you use when your shoot portraits outside stu

I use Profoto B1(x), 500ws (with digital MF though, not LF). Plenty of power for individual portraits except on sunny summer days. Then I sometimes use an extra B1 to double the power. I just point...

  8. Re: Ideas for new shutters 40 years from now when ours are all dead

Best invention ever! I bet it was patented by Canon.

Back on topic: in 40 years time there will be no more film available, so nobody will care about defective shutters anyways. If you want to...

I assume you're located in Europe or you wouldn't consider Fotoimpex. This Belgian webshop could be a nice alternative source: https://www.retrocamera.be. I bought there a few times with total...

    Re: Changing bag

Picked up a used Fuji FDB-12 Dark Box yesterday, they came with Fuji Frontier Labs.
    Folded it measures 36 x 85 x 10h cm (14,5" x 34 x 4"h).
    When set up (which is quick & very easy) it's 79 x 85 x...

    Re: Sources for Stainless Trays?

In photo academy our chemistry professor -an Agfa chemist- always warned that iron was a killer in photographic processes. Have you considered glass trays? Glass is chemically almost inert, probably...

    Re: Developer CAPACITY question

Perhaps I can even enlarge the Job beaker to hold 1000ml so I can still develop 4 sheets at a time.
Sounds like a nice MYOG project

Inside the Perceptol box it says '20 sheets 10x12,7cm' (=4x5"), so 5 sheets 8x10".

    Re: tray developing: which timer?

I wrote an Applescript (Mac only) that speaks out how much time is left for preparation, development, stop bath, and fixing. The script also dims the screen so I can bring the Mac into the darkroom.

Colour, like in Portra :) Does Fuji still make Velvia in 8x10"? The only color films in 8x10 I've come across in European shops so far are Provia 100 and Portra 160 & 400.
