Re: My trip for fall colors

Nice picture. As long as you anchor properly, your foot print damage shouldn't really be any more damaging than your foot prints. But I have yet to try that. I routinely photograph when it is...

Re: My trip for fall colors

So, it is not so much the mass of the tripod is it is the foot print of the tripod. Ie, if you place the tripod with the point of the triangle at the front and the wind blows directly towards you,...
  5. Re: Very neat artice by the New Yorker on Thomas Joshua Cooper

I get the impression it was told as a romantic adventure story so to speak. Ie, it wasn't meant to be a straight, literal telling of ones life work. If it were, it would be a very antiseptic and...

I second the expert drum for 10 sheets. I wait till I have 50+ sheets to develop. SP445 is good, but at 4 sheets at a time. it takes a while. For bw. tray or SP445. Expert drum if not doing...

  13. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

Good choice for black and white. How about color negatives?
  14. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

Nice. I wet scan as well.

    This from Ed Hamrick

"The raw tiff files come directly from the raw scanner data - no conversion
    of any kind is done."

I did play with converting in Photoshop...

Okay, I can understand that Cool.
  18. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

Nope, it is a negative scan not a positive converted to a negative I would recommend you email Ed at Hammrick and ask the question Also, read on ColorPerfect's website aboiut creating a linear raw...
  19. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

I do not scan the negative as a positive and then convert it back. I scan it as a negative and it stays that way till I convert it to a positive. I scan negatives as what you see is what you get. ...
  20. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

One thing I have been experimenting with is scanning at 6000dpi and scanning at 6400dpi and then doing a 2x2 bin. So far, the latter seems to be very comparable to a straight 6000dpi scan but at...
  21. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

I use V850, Vuescan and ColorNeg. I tried Epson scan and silverfast, not a fan of either.
  22. How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

Do you create a linear raw tiff and use ColorNeg, do it in PS or use some other method? What is your workflow?

I create linear raw tiffs and then use ColorNeg to convert them. Works really well...
