Re: Mountain Lion near Santa Cruz

Wouldn't a revolver be better. Don;t you need a second hand to charge a 380? With a revolver, it can be fired with one hand right away.

Re: Mountain Lion near Santa Cruz

Isn't that comparison different? After all, there are millions of people around where dogs are. So there are more attacks by dogs compared to the relatively few people who hike where wild predators...
  3. Re: Newb question: value of having lenses with the same filter size

My Mamiya RB67 medium format (50mm, 90mm, 180mm, and 360,mm) all take the same filters - 77mm. One added bonus is now that I have a 4x5 LF camera, I use a step up adapter (58mm to 77mm) to use the...

Re: Epson V700 High Resolution lens

Does it pay to go with the V800 or V850 rather than the V700 or V750? What are the real differences? I shoot 6x7 MF and now I'll be also shooting 4x5.

    Re: Filters for B&W

I think the question Adam has is as follows. If let's say we use a orange filter to darken the sky. The filter manufacturer says add two stops. Well, let's say the entire picture has a lot of blue...

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

A little darker and it would be a great night scene for a Hollywood movie. How about Hitchcock's North by Northwest?

Excellent. I'm glad your work is being recognized there.
  11. Re: Drum Scan vs DSLR vs Epson Scan (From Nick Carver's Youtube Channel)

Well, having moved up to 4x5, I don;t really want to stitch with my V600. So I have to make a decision, probably go with the v800 or v850.
  12. Re: Likely Very Naive Question, sheet film then scan to produce a digital print.

I've been shooting medium format film for a long while. But, I don't have a darkroom or do wet processing. I send the film out for processing and then I scan my film when I get it back from the lab....

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

Nice shot Steve. The colors and presentation remind me of the Grand Canyon photos taken in the 1950's when I would read Arizona Highways magazine in Jr. High School. Very nostalgic.

Which size BTZS? How do you find getting in and out of that thing with a loupe? DO you have any problem shaking the camera when taking it off and changing focus or view?

    Re: Dark Cloth 4x5

Thanks for the info. I'm not a hikler. So I shoot from short distances to my car. So I'm not concerned with weight or an extra cloth. I just want to get something that works best.

IS it better to have the cloth go over the whole camera like the Harrison? I find its hard to do anything with the back standard adjustments when your wrap it with a cloth.
