Re: Toyo Compendium on Canham 5x7?

It’s not just board size. It’s also film format. Since 45 and 57 are different ratios.

But how would the lens board know what focal length and speed the lens to be mounted to it will be?

Back in the 90s a rich guy in Germany patented a modular AF view camera system that took backs from 23 to 11x14. Electronics were mostly within the rail system. They exhibited at Photokina one year...

  15. Re: Using Schneider Kreuznach’s Super-Symmar XL 150mm Lens

To do it correctly, never use a drill, it can cause strains in the board and using one could damage you.
Use a chassis punch. Greenlee makes them.

Re: Mini Tripods Solutions for Macro 4x5?

Benro and Induro are the same company and MAC Group distributes them. They don’t own them.
Induro was introduced as a lower price point then Benro.

    Re: Polarisation Filter

The density of a single polarizer, circular or linear, does not change as you rotate it. It always passes the same amount of light, regardless of its rotation.

    Re: Polarisation Filter

Through the lens metering doesn’t necessarily mean you need a circular polarizer. Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Pentax, Rollei, Hasselblads all did TTL metering with no problem with a linear polarizer.

Re: Film developing stuff I learned today

The LInhof Glass Plate/Sheet Film holders would let someone load two to a side. Not recommended though.
  30. Re: Using a Neutral Density Filter on a Rear Lens Element

While not true for all filters Heliopan makes filters of different densities by grinding the glass to reach the required density. So Mark’s solution would not work.
  31. Re: Using a Neutral Density Filter on a Rear Lens Element

If there are any imperfections, smudges, dust, etc on the filter they will all effect the performance of your lens. And that assumes that you are using a very high quality nd filter.
