Re: Post Your Photos Made At Close Distance

Thanks. It's not too hot. These were end of season peppers, and they posed for a lot of photos, so they were not the freshest when I made the sauce. But the sauce is very tasty!

Boy that's in great shape! Looks lovely.
  6. Re: Reciprocity and reducing development

If you use the Zone System, you figure out where the highlight falls, and do whatever N minus development necessary. It's trickiest when the shadow is in reciprocity territory and the highlight is...

  9. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I tried doing 2 sheets of 8x10 single sided x-ray film together in a smooth-bottomed tray-- and got scratches. I commonly do two sheets of regular 8x10 film together, without problems.
  10. Re: Please help evaluate what happened on this test neg with new Chamonix F2

When you tilted the camera upwards, then brought the back vertical, the bellows got in your picture. It's happened to me. It has nothing to do with your specific camera. You might try to recreate...

Re: Film changing bag or changing tent?

While you may have gone ahead in another direction, I will just say that it is easy enough to black out a bathroom at night, and sit on the floor and load holders. For the price of a tent, you can...
  12. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I stocked up last winter, and have been working it out this year.
  13. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I used f45, and it would have been better to have used f64! But that would have been 75 minutes. The bellows extension factor was 5.75, I guessed on the reciprocity correction, and the filter...
  14. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

This is Carestream 8x10 single-sided, developed in Pyrocat HD 1:1:200 for 8 minutes in a tray. The exposure was 37 minutes! Sorry for the large size.

    Re: Darkroom Safe Light

I found that having a red LED on while I developed X-ray film created fog, so I haven't used it since. Some people have mentioned turning on the red safelight after about three quarters of the...

Re: Chris Killip has passed away

I first encountered Chris Killip's work on the walls of a cafe in Tynwald, Isle Of Man. I was blown away by these large prints of rural life on the island, and led to purchase his books. A...

Re: Post Your Photos Made At Close Distance

What to do with all the vegetables? I don't really have a good place to set up in the house, so I'm out on the porch with my Deardorff. This is with a G-Claron 240 mm, a yellow-green filter, on...
  28. Re: 5x4 processing marks. Wetting agent?

It also keeps the photoflo out of your tank!
  29. Re: MF (6x4.5,6x6,6x7,6x9,6x12) B&W film images sharing

These are great Tuco. You've been killing it lately! It must be so nice to be out on the water.
  30. Re: 5x4 processing marks. Wetting agent?

I would also suggest doing the photoflo step in a separate tray, rather than in the tank. I do that, one sheet at a time, while the other sheets remain in the tank in the wash water.

  33. Re: Seeking guidance on pairing a Nikon 150mm W lens with a Graflex Crown Graphic 4x5

If I were you, I would leave the Optar alone, and just buy a lens board for the new 150, and use the ground glass to focus. Original and knock off Copal 0 lens boards for your Crown are plentiful...

Thanks, that's an interesting idea. I've never done it before, but this might be a good negative to experiment with, although I don't really want more contrast. I might try printing with this as...

I was in Vacationland last week. I took only a Crown Graphic, and now wish I'd had more flexibility with movements and smaller f stops.
