    Re: Lens Cleaner

I've used Vodka in a pinch.
It kind of does a number on the coating though.

Did you get to try the pizza at Degnan's Loft?
  3. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

I'm simply grateful for whatever develops. When I loupe a print and read a license plate on a car parked 100 yards down the road from the camera I'm just blown away.
However I do this for fun.
  4. Re: LF hikers, do you remove plastic tree ribbons?

In the Sierra you can find old license plates from the 1940s and 50's about 15' up tree trunks (because of the snow pack) marking snowshoe trails. What reflective coating left on the plates marks...
  5. Re: I need an advice

I think it depends on your reasons for taking the 8x10.
If you're driven by a project, by all means take it along.

Made in India is very suspicious! Was the name sold to an Indian concern?
  11. Re: Any suggestions for packing away a D-II?

Thanks for the offer Mark, but I think we can move the D2 without disassembly. The hard part now is finding good cardboard boxes large enough for the Dll column.

  15. Any suggestions for packing away a D-II?

I'm being gifted an Omega D-2 with all the accessories. Literally everything.
Far and away more complete than my current D-II set up.
My generous friend suggests to keep the D-II as most of the...

Re: Newcomers to LF: First Read The Book

AA's The Making of 40 Photographs has long been a favorite of mine and was very helpful when I was starting out. Unlike the Trilogy, it's more inspirational than technical.

    Re: 8x10 carry options

I use an Uncle Mike's shotgun sling to carry my (headless) tripod.
A shotgun sling differs from rifle sling as it loops around the barrels and the wrist of the gunstock, so it works well with a...

    Re: Backpack for 8x10

I'd get an old Kelty aluminum frame pack and slide 'er into that. Use your dark cloth for padding and be careful around rocks and trees and other stuff that doesn't like cameras.
