Re: Technique for focusing "into your scene"

I wonder what your goal is: everything sharp, landscape, portrait, stills? Esthetically, I mostly go for 1/3 front, 2/3 background and I’m seldom in for everything sharp, except with landscape.
  3. Re: Smallish back pack for Technika + 2 lenses + 3 film holders??

I have a Chamonix F2 with tripod head RRL, two small lenses and one 210, 6 filmholders in Chamonix’s bag and a Gitzo tripod in the Osprey FarPoint 40. I can add a fresh T-shirt and a toothbrush for a...

    Re: Retouching Software advice needed.

I don’t want to subscribe in Adobe because I prefer CaptureOne which had until recently a very clumsy retouch procedure and it’s not ideal for scans. My Luminar3 died in the process of updates for y...
  6. Re: Newbie Question - Should I develop film myself or send it to a lab?

“ DIY it is actually easy” said Tin Can. Being dependent on a lab feels uneasy and can become complicated (not if but) when the results are not good and uninterpretable, lab results are not stable.

My wife too. I really don’t see the need of buying a dark cloth from a fancy store as if this sort of photography would still justify such an investment. That’s history. LF photography is for fun. So...

Re: how large (or small) are your prints?

The largest prints I made thus far are 50x60cm from 6x7 negatives, landscapes Patagonia. I cannot go larger yet because of my trays which can’t handle larger. But I found it quite an adventure to...

Re: Focusing aids for Chamonix 4x5 cameras

Reflex finder to compose and dark cloth to finetune. I own the carbon covered flexible viewer but I don’t use it because my 10x loupe is rather short and I can’t come in with that. I have the F2 btw,...

I have it, but it has not much function anymore. For me it’s either the reflex finder, which I use with pleasure, or the dark cloth. You have to be precise anyway and the folding viewer is only fit...

  31. Re: Shooting 4x5 panoramic images...looking for forum wisdom

4 stitched portraits gives more resolution than 3 stitched landscapes, no? I don’t read btw whether you want to stitch the scanned images, which would’nt be a problem. Or did you have a special way...

I am very pleased with the Chamonix wood and carbon combination, cannot be beaten by any used plastic Fidelity, Toyo or Lisco. They seem dust immune.

Yes that’s how I work too, photography is and has to stay intuitive I think, but one can still speculate about why it worked out so well. I never saw such a sharp positive from a color negative btw.

Re: Tripods: Is Carbon Fiber worth the extra cost?
