    Re: DIY Bi-post Connector

Back in the 1990s, I adaptd the two pin female plug and cord rom an electric razor to cross-connect a bipole synch to a PC connector.

    Looked homemade, but it worked.
  2. Re: A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

Eventually I want to move to J. Lane Dry Plates whenever they resume production . . .ISO-2.

Don't think I will ever be able to coat my own plates though.

Might still be able to (some day)...
  3. Re: A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

Well Ppackard can give "Bulb" and "instant" . . .which may be around 1/30th or so depending on the size of the shutter and how deftly you can manipulate the pneumatic bulb.

Re: Copal #3 Disassembly and Cleaning

Recently, I got a lens mounted on a Betax #4. It works at sll speeds but sticks and needs a solid CLA.

I was shocked to find that there is no one here in the city of Houston that will do this any...
  6. Re: A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

Dan: All good stuff. I respect your view on this. Eye of the beholder and all that . . .

I will probably mount a larg-ih Packard behind an adapter lens board that will let me swap out these...
  7. Re: A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

I envy your good fortune. If I do go forward withis idea, I will work with the Ideal outfit to get together the parts needed to make it happen. I may have to wait a while to be able to get...
  8. Re: A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

    Thank you Dan:

While that is a workable idea, it just doesn't seem "right" to me. It seems inelegant. . .. which, I know, is the opposite of the pragmatic form-follows-function concept.
  9. Re: A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

So, I was thinking it over some more and this idea came to me:

Get an adapter lens board for the 2D that accepts other lens boards. I am seeing them on e-Bay now. Mount a large Packard shutter to...
  10. A Graflex Frankencamera Thornton Picard substitute?

Lookinig for ways to work with different antique (brass) and vintage barrel lenses on my Kodak 2D.

I do not want to modify the 2D. I have seen a Folmer & Schwing focal plave shutter in 8x10...
  11. Re: Feedback - Photobackpacker Cascade Film Holder Cases

I have one in 8x10 and another in 4x5.

I like them b oth. I cannot think of anything I would change. . . .not even the color. Maybe s lighter weight could be achieved with rip-stop nylon, but...
  12. Re: Convert speed graflex to 1/1000 universal shutter with 3D printing

Then ks for the clear explanations of this project. I had once thought to simply cut off the front of pre-anniversary Speed and graft the shutter portion onto a a wooden piece that would replace...
  13. Re: Convert speed graflex to 1/1000 universal shutter with 3D printing

Nomenclature misunderstandings aside, I am not clear as to what has been done.

Please post a narrative description of this project.

I have gotten a lens in a Betax #4 shutter. The shutter snaps at all speeds but is slow and sticky. The diaphragm works smoothly but has oil on the blades.

  22. Re: Show us your sub-20-pound (9-kilogram) LF kit

    A tangent but related thought:

While dead weight IS a major issue, there is another nearly as limiting aspect of shooting in the field. . . .bending over or squatting.

    For years I have had...
