  1. Re: What's your go-to when you want pronounced grain on BW sheet film?

Ilford Delta 3200 in a roll film back. Ok cheating, but it's the best currently on the market for this.
  2. Re: Sinar Copal Shutter Cable Release Alternatives (and self cocking cable alternativ

Thanks for confirming! I was on the fence about ordering one without finding any reviews.
  3. Re: Sinar Copal Shutter Cable Release Alternatives (and self cocking cable alternativ

I always found a bamboo skewer works perfectly and seems pretty safe since wood is softer than metal.

  5. Re: Sinar Copal Shutter Cable Release Alternatives (and self cocking cable alternativ

I don't see how you could use one of those and not jostle the camera. It might be better to spend a bit more lunch money on the Silvestri Camera replacement. It sounds promising but I haven't pulled...

    Re: Why TF-5 Fixer??

I ran out of TF-5 so I mixed up so TF-3. It's not a bad alternative- doesn't seem to stink as much as I remember it and it can be mixed easily if you have Ammonium Thiosulfate on hand, which is a bit...

    Re: 8x10 Colour sheet film

I've heard unexposed E-6 film can be used as a Infrared filter? Or is it UV filter? In any case there must be better ways to filter UV/Infrared light these days.

I'm guessing this is for carbon fiber tripods that get really "crunchy" if you get sand and muck in them. You really have to fully extend them and rinse them like you would a modern trekking pole...

Re: Old scratched lenses, coatings, etc.

The early 203mm Ektar's and probably similar Optars were notorious for having a very soft coating that scratched easily. There is no practical way to repair this, I would leave it as it as, the...

    Re: Reveni Labs Light Meter

The Reveni Labs meter is a really neat idea. Unfortunately I find it to finicky use and I end up just using my phone spot meter app because it's easy. Laziness wins the day in the end.
  18. Re: Constructing HID Bulb fixture for Alt Process

That is true, the inputs just save 230V so maybe I would just need a transformer to convert 120V to 230V with enough wattage.

  21. Constructing HID Bulb fixture for Alt Process

So that suggests you could never mount the lens in a new lensboard without going to the factory? Or maybe it simply suggests you should never unscrew the front element.
