Re: E-Bay and PayPal: What should I know?

Unfortunately, getting into large format photography requires buying used, at least for lenses.

  3. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

How does Silverfast change the speed of the V700 and V850 during multi exposure to slow it down to harvest more data? Have you actually seen this? Have you compared the results to a single normal...

Re: E-Bay and PayPal: What should I know?

Sorry to say but with the economy the way it is, I think pawn shops will start getting a lot of camera stuff again as people need money to live.
  5. Re: Help me choose a camera to hike 2000+ miles

A large format is the wrong camera for your needs especially since you're hiking 2000 miles.

Re: E-Bay and PayPal: What should I know?

I was selling a 2006 Acura TL, nothing too uncommon. To drive over 100 miles to see and buy it seem strange to me. So I ignored those "buyers" and found one 20 miles away, some guy buying a car for...
  7. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

I just got a V850. Does Silverfast 8 SE Plus version that came with the scanner provide multipass and multi exposure or do I need to upgrade Silverfast? How does it do it?

Re: E-Bay and PayPal: What should I know?

I sold my car last year and advertised on a couple of car sales sites. Both warned me to watch out for fraud. If the deal smells bad in any way, don't get involved. Don't sell to out of state...
  9. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

I just got a V850 as I started to shoot LF. These 4x5 Tmax 100's are scanned at 2400. I tried scanning at 3200 but couldn't see the difference. Should I scan at 3200 or 4800 or higher? The tiff...

    Re: 65mm lens comparison

    Why?

I'm just getting into 4x5 and have a 75, 90 and 150mm. I do have a center filter for the 90mm but not the 75mm. I'm just starting to shoot and was wondering if you'd share your experience.

Nice shot superman. I've never stitched but I do have a V600. What settings do you use when you scan? It seems to me that both pictures should be scanned flat with no auto or manual adjustments at...

This chart give stops in halves and thirds for aperture, shutter, and ISO. Maybe it will help.

Re: How do you set up your tripod?

I just started shooting 4x5. So I decided to try my P&S micro 4/3 digital camera. First, I set it to BW and adjust the zoom to match the LF lens coverage. Then I can look to see where I want to...

    Re: Chamonix adjustment

I have a similar problem with my Chamonix 45H-1. Only the back standard tilts very slightly back when locked into the set. Is the adjustment on the back the same with the same size hex?
  28. Re: Are the higher shutter speeds on large format lenses always off?

    Last one. Fujinon 75mm f 5.6 large format 4x5
Some speeds were right on. Others maybe 1/6 stop too fast like the 150mmm Schneider. But overall pretty accurate.
  29. Re: Are the higher shutter speeds on large format lenses always off?

Here's a test for a 90mm Nikkor f 4.5 large format. Shutter is very accurate.
  30. Re: Are the higher shutter speeds on large format lenses always off?

  31. Re: Are the higher shutter speeds on large format lenses always off?

How can you get vignetting? That means at smaller f stops, you'll also get vignetting which doesn't happen. The lens is designed to avoid that.
  32. Re: Are the higher shutter speeds on large format lenses always off?

Wider lenses give more light through the viewfinder or ground glass to see the subject, even if the camera stops down when your shoot the shot. Also, with slow film, at least on 35mm, you're able to...
