Ohh I see, that makes a lot of sense. I guess it doesn't have a "film holder" cause it only does 35mm right?

I've seen these for many decades now and I can't for the life of me figure out what those moustache looking things are for. Cigar holder? Beer holder? Cat holder?

Re: What did you compose at Waters Edge?

I wanna know where this is!! I've driven and seen most of the coast from LA to SF. I'm guessing this is far north of SF? Quite lovely photo. I didn't even know there are cormorants in California.

  12. Re: One more time: Tachihara 4x5 front cam loosens up. Solution?

Awesome!!! I had a 100 year old Korona and the screws everywhere was like that. I hated it. I wasn't a woodworker but I knew if I really wanted to baton down the hatches, I would have to unscrew...
  13. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

okay, we actually never made that one. NOt sure if there was a market in NYC for it. Maybe there is now, but not back then. Every country that has a lot of poorer people have a version of this but...
  14. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

I was a sous-chef at #2 Austrian restaurant in NYC back in early 90's. I know how to make all of those. The owner was dang picky about the cucumber salad. It was never "austrian" enough. We sold...
  15. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

Ohhh, EXCELLENT point! Although, it is a little hard to stop down and actually look through. But yes, sometime today, I'll point the camera to a sunny spot again and check and stop down.

    Are...
  16. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

This is super interesting Hugo!! Now that I got almost all my lenses on Linhof boards, I will check them on my 4x5 Chamonix that has a nice GG to it and see if it is same. My 8x10 has a new GG that...
  17. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

No, no filter. Always good to ask the obvious! I work in IT. "is it plugged in?" Are you in front of your computer now?
  18. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

Ohhhh, that's is interesting. But my 19" Wollensak is pretty old, I *THINK*, i can't tell if it is coated or not. Well, maybe I'm wrong again. I put the lenses on my desk here. And shined it with...
  19. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

Is this what you want? IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT!?! Hahaha, I'm just kidding, it's Friday, and too much dang coffee. My bidet is happy to be useful.

First pic, 14" RedDot, it is in focus, I can...
  20. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

No, I don't have one. I thought maybe it would be better if I did get one. I'm hoping the "Hallmark movie" look is a good description of it.
It's a lovely SoCal day so i'll huff the big thing...

Very interesting! I had no idea!
  22. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

Just to clarify, the lens elements are fine, no scratches, no vaseline, no fungus or anything like that.

    Re: Pop-up darkroom...

That's pretty cool. Not for everyone but pretty cool. Yes, I can see it not being completely lightproof like floor is uneven, seams, etc. I'm sure another tarp on top will take care of that. ...

  29. Re: So stores/ebay sell 4x5 GG protectors but not 8x10?

I found some foam core I wasn't using. I LOVE your ideas guys! I'll try to fashion something today with it. I'll use a film holder as a template. So I'm thinking a piece that goes inside like a...

    Re: Portraits from 2021

These Symmar lenses are terrible aren't they? Look, everything is out of focus except her face! Terrible. You should trade it for something that'll get everything in focus.

    Honestly, I don't...

Re: Unique/ lesser known portrait lenses

So glad Mr. "Plungercam" didn't sell any of his stuff.

Not sure if anyone remembers him. He did some mods on his Hassy lenses and called it "Plungercam". This was about ohhhh 20 years ago?

  40. Re: So stores/ebay sell 4x5 GG protectors but not 8x10?

Well, how about that, I just did a quick search and I didn't see this before, but CatLabs has one. $70 bucks for a clear acrylic one with a bendy loop on top, kinda like a giant money clip.
