Stop messing around and just get a used Majestic tripod with their head. A hurricane will not knock it over.

  5. Re: Cc401 needs long tripod head screw - what tripods are recomended

My CC401 had the same problem. A previous owner had the camera base milled flat with the tripod hole. A good machinist aught to be able to do this in about 2 minutes.

    Poll: Re: Wanderlust 4x5 P&S

The "4X5 holders for 9X12 film" will work fine with 9 cm X 12 cm cut film which I thought was pretty standard in Europe. US 4 inch by 5 inch film is 10.2 cm X 12.7 cm which is the reason it did not...

    A 270m G-Claron or a 240nn one would be a better choice in non-telephoto design.
  11. Re: One lens - artistic zen or a limiting frustration

Actually millions of folks are carrying around one camera and one single focal length lens and using it. It is called an iPhone. Someone said it is equivalent to about a 129mm on a 4X5. Depth of...

    Re: Muir Woods policy change

Muir Woods is vastly overrated. Try Big Basin, the first trees the Sierra Club saved and it is probably easier to get to.
  13. Re: A little help for the new newbie who wants to get started in 8x10

Check out Majestic Tripods and Heads. You can often get them used for very little money as the backpacking crowd does not like them much... (mine weighs 19 lb)

Re: The pine board camera build

Hint: The image on the ground glass should be upside down. You probably will need to use one of those dark cloth things to see it. Look at the ground glass and not the lens.

What amazed me about the show at Stanford was how carefully Watkins studied Ansel's shots and reproduced a similar views.

  23. Re: Using Fujinon SW 90mm f8 with Wista 45N to recess or not recess?

In my experience, life was miserable with wide angle lens until I bought a bag bellow for my ARCA. Hint. You can use the bag bellow on longer lenses.
  24. Re: 4in square lens boards, what do they go to?????

The recessed board is evil. Even if you can get your fingers in to run the lens controls you won't have any movements due to bellows compression. You would be better off to buy a CC402 which is...
  25. On an iPAD Air what 4X5 lens does the camera app correspond to
