Is it possible that, as photographers, we ignore the modern and intact in favor of "character".
Do you really want to see pictures of Walmarts and Sheetzs?

Just so I am clear on the 'rules'. Images made with a medium format camera are ok, as long as all parallel lines are rendered so.
How about images originating with a large format camera...

I'd be in trouble with these.
I always find the need to turn my cap backwards so I can get close enough to the ground glass.
Care to tell us what you were going for here?
I recommend that you take a look at the Canham DLC.
Tons of movements, accepts a wide focal range, packs up small (and quickly) and quite sturdy. Great support from Keith Canham, even if bought...
May I ask about your intent in the area of reduced exposure partially including and to the left of the statue in this image?
I'm not much of an expert in digital processing (to say the least). Can you explain what I'm seeing on the tops of the buildings in image 2?
What was your purpose in creating that effect?
Another potential problem is the tendency to do something safe and typical once you've gone to the trouble of setting up your large format camera and also considered the cost of film and processing....
The Phoenix Museum of Art has 2 shows right now on pt/pd photography. There are 8 Kenro Izu prints displayed; 4 platinum landscapes and 4 cyantoype over platinum figure studies. They are...
If you've got good negatives right next to completely clear when they are processed together, logic suggests that some were never exposed to light. I vote for "not removing the darkslide". Or perhaps...
As Jac said, any of your lenses that cover 4X5 will also cover 6X12. The question, I think, should be what kind of perspective are you looking to achieve in your 6x12 images? A wide angle perspective...
I never thought I'd find out who beat me to that Norma! I called on it but then had to leave town for a few days. By the time I got back, it was gone :-(
Oh, well. I hope you enjoy shooting with it;...
Shouldn't this be in the "On Photography" section?
This is probably a stupid noob question, but here goes:
When I select any manufacturer's paper profile in the Color Management section of the print pane of Lightroom, I get locked out of the...
I have had this same problem when fixing with an older,, though sealed, bottle of Ilford Rapid Fix that I got as a part of a larger purchase. I always use a two bath fix. The problem went away when I...
If B&H Photo and Freestyle ship to Canada, they would be the way to go, IMO.
It won't be long before silver gelatin will be considered an alt process :(
This will soon be moot as Ilford has discontinued this paper, in favor of Multigrade FB Classic. I haven't yet tried it, but have read that the "Classic" is supposed to be more responsive to toning.
How nice! I'll be visiting family in Scottsdale at the end of February, and am always on the lookout for opportunities to see (and make) interesting photographs.

You certainly grasped the idea of Zone system manipulation, but I am a little confused by your description, and your math. First off, it you mentioned metering the right side of the pot,...
According to the referenced material, the super actinic aquarium tubes print with more contrast and are faster for pt/pd.
"4) the Super Actinic (SA) aquarium tube that peaks at around 420 nm. SA...
As a Washington, DC resident, I am lucky to have been able to see the exhibit twice. There is a panoramic salt print that I cannot stop looking at!
The Minolta Spotmeter F is small, takes easy to find batteries, and the display can be read outside the viewfinder. It would be my #1 choice.
Thanks for the suggestions, including the restaurants :-)
I'll be spending a few days in Rhinebeck next week. I'm usually just fine finding scenes of interest wherever I am, but would be happy for a suggestion or two of 'don't miss' locations nearby. Thanks...
Sounds like I should keep things simple and plan on communicating with my 3880 via Ethernet cable.
Thanks for your help.
Perhaps this is a dumb newbie question, but is there difference in the accuracy of the signal to a printer and the eventual print quality when transmitting on a wireless network vs Ethernet cable? I...
Is that meant to say four inches from the film?
Not to hijack the thread, but is the Titan 8X10 out yet?
David's Kosher Salt lists "salt" as its only ingredient. I just used some to mix a batch of PdCl; it worked just fine.

I learned that one should dry the prints face down. But I got screen marks, so started to turn them over. I've never had a problem drying my prints face up.
I've been using Xtol for years, and started mixing in tap water before anyone told me otherwise. Never had a problem. You should be able to get at least 6 months storage from your stock solutions if...
I'm not sure I'd want to see most of my neighbors in that outfit:eek:
Most folks in my neighborhood wear blue jeans & t-shirt or sweats to do yardwork.
As expressed by others before me, if the negative is starting to feel like an enemy to be defeated instead of a friend with whom I'm having a conversation, it's time to move on. If I'm working with...
I, too, use the shuffle method and get good results with FP4+ and Xtol. I find that I can minimize scratches by using lots of developer solution - nearly filling the tray. This way, the negatives are...
