  3. Re: Advice Needed - Should I ship my LF lenses to get them CLA'ed before selling them

After I bought my first shutter speed tester I started listing the actual speeds of my lens shutters on my eBay auctions. My lenses started selling for less money even when the shutters were accurate...

Put in the add that cosmetically the lenses look excellent with great clarity and no fog, coating marks or scratches. I have no way of professionally testing the lens shutters but they sound...

    Re: Hello from Amsterdam

Welcome to the forum. You will learn a lot here. I know I did! :)
  8. Re: Advice Needed - Should I ship my LF lenses to get them CLA'ed before selling them

Do not have your lens shutters CLA'd before you sell them. You will never recoup the costs.

Recently CLA'd lenses do bring a little more money and then only if you include the paper work from the...

PB Blaster is the go to for stuck nuts and bolts on an automobile. It works better than anything else. PB Blaster is mostly naphtha and petroleum oil.

    Re: Hello from Spain

    Hello, Rafa.

My wife's ex-husband met a really nice lady over the internet. They ended up getting married, so he move to Spain to live with her in Madrid. He loves it there with all the history...
  12. Re: It happened to me! What Disasters or Near-misses have you had while Shooting?

My very first large format camera was a used Cambo SC 4x5 monorail that I found on eBay. All excited, I set the camera up in my living room to play around with and learn how it worked. I decided to...
  13. Re: Advice: Lens mounted, close camera (metal field)

It's ok if it's sitting on a shelf. If you throw it into a backpack and go hiking I wouldn't want the lens rubbing against the focusing rails. Also accidents happen. What if you dropped your camera...

  16. Re: Seeking guidance on pairing a Nikon 150mm W lens with a Graflex Crown Graphic 4x5

Used Graflex lens boards were at one time, easily available on eBay. I haven't watched lately. You may have to be a little patient. I think there are people out there who are waiting for Covid 19 to...

  19. Re: Which of my 5 LF lenses are worth keeping or worth upgrading?

I wouldn't mind having an Imagon for my Fujifilm Xt3!

I doubt they made a lens close to the focal length of my Fujifilm 56mm APD. Of course if it had a Nikon or Canon mount, I could use a speed...

    Thanks. I learned something new.
  22. Re: Which of my 5 LF lenses are worth keeping or worth upgrading?

I'm talking about character. Look at Cooke, Dagors, Commercial Ektars, Heliars, Aero Ektars, Imagon's, Verito's, Kodak Portrait, Pinkham and Smith's, Petzval's and on and on.

    Most 35mm camera...
  23. Re: Which of my 5 LF lenses are worth keeping or worth upgrading?

Even the digital crowd is discovering sharpness is overrated and are looking for lenses with character. They now make adapters to adapt old 35mm lenses to mirrorless cameras. Some of the most popular...

  27. Re: Can anyone recommend any backpacks/suitcases to transport my LF camera/lenses/gea

I have back issues and can't get along with a backpack so I use this for my 8x10. When I want to carry more I have a cheap vinyl cooler I stack on top of it. I had a cheap bag with small wheels...
  28. Re: How To Test The Shutter On a Lens Intended for Use on a Graflex

Use a shutter speed tester and then write the actual speeds on a piece of paper and tape it to the lens board. If the speeds are too far off then get it CLA'd.
  29. Re: How to keep stand mount and head from spinning

I hope the sink stopper works out for you. Either way, have a beer for Frank!
  30. Re: How to keep stand mount and head from spinning

No worries. They are only $3.00 a piece. Might have to get some myself!

  31. Re: How to keep stand mount and head from spinning

If that doesn't work well, you could try a rubber sink stopper. Just cut with scissors to fit and then glue to the tripod head.
