I used to have one that lived in the top of my patio umbrella (whether it was folded or not). I looked it up-- it's a "Gray Tree Frog" (like I needed to look it up to know that). That would explain...
He looks well-fed.
lassethomas, this is a fine picture. Great light, only photography can do this convincingly. I would love to see a print.
Since the bridge is blue, like the sky, color filters may be of limited use. My suggestion would be to try using a polarizing filter on a day that is not too hazy or overcast. The effect of...

Deep Run, 2021
I'm not sure I care to speculate on what mental state this image is equivalent to, so I think I'll just let it...
Also agreed. The little spot of light in front of the central stone formation really makes it for me.
Thanks to everyone for their helpful input. I think I'll go with a packaged fixer from now on, clearly I'm not saving any money or time rolling my own, at this point.
I've been using TF-3 (Anchell's Darkroom Cookbook recipe) for years for printing on Ilford MG Fiber paper. Some recent batches of the ammonium thiosulfate solution used in TF-3 arrived with, or since...
Sad. I became aware of him in the early '70s, and have always found his pictures mysterious and strangely compelling. Never met him though. I've yet to see anything done in PS by others that equals,...
If you arrange for the ruler to be at a shallow angle to the lens axis, and make a mark on it in the middle and set the focus there, it will be obvious whether your groundglass and your film holder...
I like that. Ambiguous, mysterious.
Agreed, and with a great feel for the light on the subject. Nicely done!
I checked out your website, Jingmin, after seeing this and other postings of yours. I like the sensitivity you show for the subject, and look forward to seeing more.
I have no problem with offering a program like this funded with private (philanthropic) money, which is where most of the funding comes from in this case, according to the article. But I think that...
Those flamingos are multiplying at an alarming rate.
Thank you, Philip.

From earlier this week. I used a 23A medium red filter to balance out the tone in the sky. This is a nice time of...

A sheet of Astia from years back that I finally got around to having processed.
Impressive home lab, Bernice, and nice photographs of the setup. The scopes I used were always my employer's property. I never used a 7104 but I used a 2467B with the microchannel plate. I used to...
That brings back memories. We had a scope like that at my next-to-last job. I'd say you were loaded for bear with all those instruments!
Very nice.
That does look rather forlorn, doesn't it? Not to get all anthropomorphic but I know the feeling.
Around here, people tend to abandon shopping carts in odd places. They look sad and out of place...
"...this was a particularly violent storm..."
It certainly looks that way! A powerful image.
The lens you used, whatever it is, makes this picture sing like no plasmat could. I like it very much.
Very nicely done, tgtaylor. I wish I could see the print.
The treatment is perfect for the subject matter, Merg.
I am reassured knowing that I'm not the only one with drill holes and saw marks on my benchtop. But I thought it was because I'm not a...
I like the AM picture, especially the chiaroscuro effect of the light and shade on the hillside on the right. It just feels like the morning to me.
+1 to that Gregg. Wonderful strange tonality with that grass amongst the lava, nailed it perfectly.
Another D23 believer!
No relation to my knowledge either. I knew a (female) of that name when I was working-- but a tech writer, not a photographer.
I had a copy of that very strange book when I was at SIU in 1973. Lost now, I have sometimes wondered to what extent it was a fair representation of life at that time and place, as opposed to a kind...

I've done the "pack the meter with the trigger pressed" trick a time or two myself. I carry a spare battery, and give how I stuff the meter into the backpack a bit of attention when I put it away.
Agreed. It's always nice to enjoy a successful photograph that violates one of the "rules of composition" (viz., "Don't break up the picture with horizontal lines").
One of the great things about LF, Anthony, is that you can make much larger messes quite easily. Welcome and good luck!
Much better than some (one assumes) "planned" sculptures I've seen in museums, enigmatic and very nice.
I assume this was on a college campus during a break time. I recall when I was (briefly)...
John, was an ND grad used in this photo? Or maybe just vignetting from a lot of rise. In any case, the effect is strange and unsettling. A very good image, I think.
I like it too! Disparate elements making a harmonious composition.
Yes it is. The fact that it is (sadly) no longer in use probably accounts for the lack of added-on ramps at the entrance, which have spoiled the appearance of many old buildings, especially churches....
Doremus said: "Evaluating the prints is an art in itself." So true!
The right viewing light for wet (damp) prints is very important. If it is way too bright (or is fluorescent), your prints will...
