Hi Bob,
Had a similar problem with a vacuum frame,in my case the rubber seal was brittle(no flex at all).Picked up a foam type rubber strip for sealing windows and contact cemented it around the...
Norman,Think you are going to have fun with paper negative portraits I've been using Multigrade IV glossy for my negatives to reduce texture, as I enlarge mine but think it would be good for contact...
Really beautiful job, well done.I appreciate the work you've done but mostly the design and the time spent on it are remarkable.
New you'd get it straightened out Barry.Looks like a good test shot(you might stand still a little longer so we could get a better look at ya)LOL!
Good job all round...

My home made 11X14 camera has a fresnel lens for it's ground glass.I removed the lens from a rear projection TV,cut it down and lightly sanded the smooth side.It works swell, don't need a dark cloth...

For some reason I can't open the pictures in your last two entries. Is anyone else having trouble with this?
Once I built a device with a 20X24 lamp house and mounted a glass in front of it.Having the same concern you have about the weight of a removable negative carrier cut a vacuum groove around the edge...

Long ago a studio I worked for had the same temperature problem you are describing and my boss was concerned about the cost of a chiller unit.We found a remote drinking fountain cooler( the...
This really takes me back(probably about the same time Bob was making inter-negatives and positives),definitely before digital.Along with all the technical proficiency required there was DUST!,seems...
A long time ago the folks I worked for wanted a series of 4X8 foot panels, each utilizing cropped images from 4X5 inch negatives. They were B&W images projected on to roll paper and developed in...
What you are doing looks great .I've been shooting Ilford MG4 paper in camera to get a similar look,it's blue sensitive and I rate it at about ISO 6. Could save your ND and blue filtering, plus can...

Hi Chauncey,
Yes is the answer and I did build my 11x14 that way but in this case I wanted strength in the body for mounting on the tri pod and inserting and removing film holders. The idea for this...
Actually this is an older picture the stand has been upgraded to 16" wheels as the 10" ones didn't move over rough ground easily. The stand comes apart to fit in my car trunk. To answer your question...

I suspect you'd be way ahead printing your photos on some iron on material as the halftone screens aren't black and white as Jim Jones said. The soft edges the dots have won't reproduce well on a silk...
Thanks for all the suggestions you all.Must be getting old as it finally dawned on me to check out my stash and wouldn't you know a couple of chrome plated copper(I think) hold downs from an old...
Am building a 4X5 camera and have the ground glass/film holder back finished and would like a DIY idea for the springs necessary for"normal function. Any and all suggestions welcome.
I've always appreciated the work done by Jackson and the heroic effort it must have been to do wet plates in the wilderness. the white sky and brooding shadows are very compelling to me. I'm retired...
Thanks for the suggestions, really appreciate the help." Coroplast",thanks for that name GC,guess searching for"corrugated core plastic sheet" wasn't close enough for my search engines,LOL!

Am playing with a much smaller camera idea for myself and am...
Along the same line but a little off.Has anyone tried stand or semi-stand development on their prints? Just curious as I'm enjoying shooting paper negatives in-camera and wondering if the print paper...
Seems to me a simple and inexpensive way to try converting an 8X10 holder would be using strips of film and two sided tape. You could attach several thickness of film strips to the holder septum...
Hey Bob,
Sounds like you all are having fun, looking forward to seeing some of your images when finished.Don't think my wife would consider marathon printing a proper Valentines day present but you...
Try drying your lips and gently close them on a corner of the film. The residual moisture will cause the film to lightly stick to the lip on the emulsion side.Works every time for me.
Hey Bob,
Tried to send PM but getting a message that your PM box is full and can't take any more messages till some space is made available.Just thought you'd like to know....
