Thank you Jim! You are very kind.

What are the particular reasons for why Intrepid isn't a good choice for a budget 8x10? Is it not solid enough or is it mechanically flimsy?

A 21cm/4.5 Heliar is my favorite lens! I have it in a 1910's compound shutter.

Is metal not a reasonable substitute? I recently replaced a polaroid 405 holder dark-slide with one fashioned out of a steel sheet at it seems to work well.

Valley of Skaftá, Iceland, 2016, IR 200, Rollei Infrared in Kodak XTOL.
I too would rent a car and not bother with a tour...
I would advocate not taking the ring road, in fact not going to any of the usual sightseeing spots in Iceland.
Thanks. The scan sadly doesn't look as nice as the print. I bleached it in a fairly spent bleach which solarized darkest parts into that red-golden color. I am quite fond of the flowery spots on the...
This is the smaller 21cm one:

I use a V600 and scan the negative in two passes and stitch together.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks! It's 4x5 astia with a 21cm Heliar. The scanning was a bit botched by scanner guessing colors, I need to do it again.
As for the "sedated or just depressed" comment,...

Aero Ektar on FP-100c45 negative..
Zero posts would mean that they didn't even post the post they posted :) It's a bug of some sort, there's more people that have it.
A FP-100c45 transfer on watercolor paper:

That's good, otherwise Inigo Montoya could have been after her.
I have 4 boxes with 2016-07 expiration, they are in Japanese boxes, not export ones.
I used FP4+ in XTOL at 20 degrees, which causes rather short dev times which I think must be the problem. It could be that a pre-soak would help as well with the short developing times?
I would not be so quick labeling people as too careless. I have both the Jobo 2509n reel and a Mod54 and I have not had a problem with a single negative in the Jobo 2509n with respect to uneven...
I have spent maybe 5 hours now alternating between 4ft and 15ft, but it seems impossible to find a good configuration. Worst of all, the front scale moves forward and backward in addition to up/down,...
I think it's this one: http://www.amazon.de/UltraFire-WF-501-1Watt-UV-Taschenlampe/dp/B004S7WFIG/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1394317377&sr=8-13&keywords=uv+flashlight
I rigged it to the Ikea lamp...
Also, since I also have a newish SG/AE, does anyone have any advice on how to calibrate the rangefinder? Yes, I have read http://lommen9.home.xs4all.nl/kalart/new.html and...
I'd point out that the Ikea Jansjo lights are of many different makes (have different part numbers), and
not all are strong enough UV sources. The one I bought, for instance, didn't work and I used...
I have a box of 4x5, but I have serious problems with curling. The sheets are curled (emulsion side-in) already in the box, I'm storing the box in a sealed bag in the refrigerator. I develop it in...
I tape the negatives to a sheet of glass with scotch tape (the shiny (red?) kind) and pour bleach on it, leave it 10 seconds or so, rinse with water.
What exactly do you want to develop? It is certainly nothing difficult, although it might take some time until you iron out the details. I would estimate that more than 75% of BW film photographs are...
That looks perfectly alright. You cannot expect significantly sharper scans from a V750 in my opinion.
If I remember correctly, I got mine in January in about three working days (to Switzerland). I did not believe that possible but it indeed came from China.
The issue is roughly this- Europe has nice landscapes outside of the alps, but January weather is unpredictable. It can be cold and snowing and you may have wonderful landscapes in the accessible...
So that the emulsion is on the outside surface? What developer did you use and for how long?
I too had issues with Mod54 (roughly as the one shown by tenderobject, there were 2 lighter areas where the film was held). My standard processing was 1l of replenished XTOL for 10:30 at 20 degrees....
I'm sorry to say that it's the same batch I got when I ordered from Japan few months back. They told me that as far as they know that is the last batch to be made.
I got a 20 sheet box recently and the expiration date is 10/14 in case this is helpful information. (From ars-imago in switzerland)
Thick films are for instance FP4+ and HP5+, those don't slip out. I do not know about fomapan in 4x5, but in 120 the fomapan base is rather thin I believe.
I use the Mod54 but I'm unable to get 100% even development even if I use only the 2 outside slots and fill the remaining 4 slots with dummies. I do not have problems with film slipping out, but that...
! Thanks for pointing that out. I first couldn't understand at all where the photo was taken from and now I realized that I've actually taken photographs 20m to the right of that place in January.
I did not think my critique of a image that I do not know where it comes from is of a particular value. (I understand critique as trying to help the author, in this case I don't know if the author...
While I agree that some photos here (but definitely not Ed's) might have rather flat lighting, I really dislike this example image you posted and wish you had posted something actually helpful.
