I haven't printed with it, but I understand that it is supposed to be far more sandable than traditional pla's. I guess you can sometimes print to simulate woodgrain with some wood filaments.

Seems like it should be easy. So long as you can model them I think you can put in the threads just fine. Be mindful of what you make them out of, PLA is the easy beginner plastic and some printers...
Just how light tight are these tents?
Could one be light-proofed enough to deal with x-ray film in the tent in full daylight?
Wonderful information and truly beautiful work!
What kinds of paints do you use? I'd guess oils?
Are you able to achieve a durable enough surface that the final work does not require the...
It used to be that 2x3 view camera images and FP-100C images shot in a view camera were allowed in the LF works.
I'm saddened to see that is no longer the case.
Rather than becoming more and more...
Dan---
I've only done this on my Super Graphic. I am not sure that this will work on a Speed or Crown graphic even if it has the Graflok back. I think the Super's back is different.
I just got...
With the Super Graphic, the Cambo focusing screen assembly fits on the Super Graphic's graflok back if you remove it's focusing screen assembly as if to fit a graflok accessory. The hooks go on and...
I have a Cambo reflex viewer on one of the non-rotating Cambo back's focusing panel. This fits perfectly on my Super Graphic when I remove the stock focusing panel.
It works well, though I think I...
Adorama, Freestyle, Calumet even.
If you want cheaper film consider ortho lith souped in diluted dektol.
My understanding is that the Rio Grande del Norte also contains part of San Antonio Mt, said by many to be the second largest free-standing mountain in the world. I also think part of the Rio San...
Raid your junk drawer for any group of cells that seems to work ok held about the desired distance from the gg.
Find a plastic pill bottle, scrap of tube or similar.
Take some epoxy and cement the...
I develop by inspection for my sheet film with a green safelight and foot peddle to flash it briefly for peeks. There are also a couple other methods- one involves a desensitization dye and another...
I doubt you will find the Lee System adequate for big glass.
Consider modifying a large compendium hood to work on your 11x14 and using 6" square filters with it.
I have an AutoKnips II.
It a cute little gizmo, and surprisingly complex.
I have used it pretty reliably with several copals, a syncro-compur, two prontor presses, an Ilex 4, and my RB67.
I have...
I think that maybe I have been less clear than I might have been. I never meant to imply that the art world has not accepted digital prints, digital photography, or even digital manipulations....
IMHO the Lodima / Azo look is more about using an amidol (or similar) developer, often in conjunction with a water bath, than it is about the tonal range of the paper.
I do think the tonal range is...
A decade and a half ago in college I sometimes souped C41 and E6 in home hobbyist type kits using a daylight tank bathed in a sink with hot water trickling in and a dial type thermometer to help me...
I'm curious, what kind of scratches are you (or others) getting in trays?
I often get tiny, hairline scratches on my Ilford films on the base side. These don't show in my epson flatbed scans or in...
One note about the 90mm Angulon, they had more sample variation than most other wide angle lenses you might find.
If I were buying one I'd want to either see some images made with it, or else choose...
I'm quite happy with my Berlebach.
It dampens vibration well, holds plenty of weight, and is light enough to carry in the field without it become a physical test of my failing endurance.
I'd like...
In particular I am speaking of Michael Berman, whose "home town" gallery rep told me carbon ink prints were "carbon prints" and whom luminous lint and other fine art resources list as having worked...
I note that there are "collected" photographers whose work is sometimes already misrepresented as "carbon print" due to previous marketing rubbish.
I dearly hope that shucksters aren't trying to...
I have a Repromaster 1:9.25/213 that I think I paid about 60 plus shipping for from fleabay.
Huge coverage (nearly covers 11x14), sharp and contrasty, absurdly good. If it came in a shutter it would...
I've used an auto-knips self timer, and it works out ok.
Or a Super Graphic with a working shutter solenoid, that can be tripped with a flash cable if hooked up right you could even do wireless...
I love the composition.
Since it is timely, this seems like a good place to mention that near Taos, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is currently closed to all traffic from 7pm until 7am.
This is for a repaving operation which...
I note that the build quality of my Spectra Combi II is lower than one would expect for a meter of its abilities.
Aside from the cheap feel and possible fragility, its a really nice meter.
I got...
Just an fyi for the mods, ,my firefox browser under ubuntu cleared the authentication on its own.
Congrats on the upgrade completed ahead of schedule.
30-40 lbs? No for either, but the weak point is the head.
The 3047 I had with a B&J 8x10 was really being pushed with that camera at half that weight.
The huge front lens cell is mostly obscuring the shutter.
It looks to me like the lens hourglasses in as it meets the shutter, that there is a rim consistent with the outside edge of a copal 3....
Buy used. I've owned a dozen large format cameras, several dozen lenses, and countless odds and ends. I've bought 1 item new, an instant film back I bought recently because I had a gift card for the...
Looks to me like a 360 plasmat of some kind.
I bought my first 4x5 from CCG on an IU field trip to Columbus about fifteen years ago. I was warned away from the shop by professors, but Mpex didn't have any really cheap 4x5s that day. CCG did,...
I'd be likely to buy a 65mm with a hotshoe or wire finder, and a tripod socket.
My reference to that other discussion is because this is twice in a week of rather occasional posts where I felt someone had "jumped down my throat", so to speak. Perhaps, like I said, some people...
Its actually kind of difficult for you to know how I am looking at things, since I didn't say. When have I said AA wasn't very influential? I would say he was almost as influential to the art as...
I'm shooting both 4x5 and 8x10.
I prefer the look of 8x10, but the larger camera is not always practical.
As for cost- I shoot fewer 4x5 exposures than I shot 6x7 exposures. I shoot fewer sheets...
I think AA is as famous as he is due more to his workshops and books, and the marketing of his work, than any exceptional excellence or skill.
I'm not saying he wasn't a great photographer, just...
It seems a little thick, but then that's a function of the 90mm lens cone and lens.
Although my Super Graphic is heavier, I can carry it folded in my Domke vest's inside pocket. I've carried it...
I use a spot meter for incident metering all the time. I don't need no silly luminidiscs either, just my balled fist. My skin is one stop lighter than middle-grey. Compare lighting ratios in a second...
