    Re: Selecting Paper

Fomatone classic is my favorite as well and it responds very well with toning.
Ilford Art 300 for the rag paper is the option but you can also use any rag paper and coat with liquid emulsion (Adox...

Long time ago I had a gem and it kills me that I sold it.
Docter-Wetzlar Apo germinar W8 240mm. Coverage on 8x10 was astonishing.

    Re: Double-Exposing Deliberately

    Ian,
Yup I was blown away the first time I saw them. As opposed to a classic double exposure, this impressive build-up brings thickness to something...ethereal !

    Re: Double-Exposing Deliberately

True. Christophe Le Devehat does some amazing exposures with sometime 200 shots on film. It becomes pointillisme.
We just did an exhibition together and was amazed by his series. Just crazy when...

    Re: Double-Exposing Deliberately

Double exposure has been there since the beginning of photography. As always starting by accident then used extensively by the "Avant garde", Bauhaus, Dada movements and so on.
    Some of the most...
  11. Re: Have any of you downgraded from 8x10 to 4x5? Why?

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

    Will,
Paper is my obsession and treasure ! What you see is only 11x14... Lith made me look for all kind of papers to get different textures or colors. When I decide which paper I use for a series I...

  14. Re: Avoiding harassment when shooting in the street

To avoid harassment in Los Angeles, it is to be the fastest possible when I decide to take a picture. Meaning no tripod, this is where the graflex super D shines. You can really act fast.

  16. Re: Have any of you downgraded from 8x10 to 4x5? Why?

The thing most frustrating for me in 8x10 is that I dont have an 8x10 enlarger. Yes a contact print is beautiful but making a mural print from an 8x10 negative is where it really explodes in your...
  17. Re: Have any of you downgraded from 8x10 to 4x5? Why?

I shoot most of the time 4x5 and then run into an 8x10 crisis. When the crisis is over, I'm back to 4x5... Until the next one.
Completely irrational and personal. So everybody is right in his own...

  19. Re: SP-445 agitation test results challenging

I really like these tanks. I hold 2 of them to process 8 sheets. Contrary to my roll processing tanks for these I go for a strong agitation. I had some issue on my first try and found out the key was...

Re: instructions for 4x5 Film pack?

    Watch for the emulsion side.
A pain to process as this is like a 120 film.
I found the old premo film pack tank to be the best to process them232174

  27. Re: 8x10 Photography Compared to 4x5 Photography?
