    Re: Large format Astrophotography

I am gonna try eyepiece projection so to speak using a large format 150mm lens or smaller and see how that works. I just don't know how the Fstop of scope will combine with Fstop of lense.

    Re: Large format Astrophotography

Most new scopes are pretty good. Can always get a telecompressor or coma corrector to fix issues at the edges.

Refractors are better and RC scopes as good and better.

    Re: Large format Astrophotography

That is 610mm focal length so that should make for a fine scope. My 102mm shown in pics is a 812mm focal length.

    I say give a try.

I have the advantage using a guide scope and guiding program...

    Re: Large format Astrophotography

Reason for wanting to cover 4x5 at minimum is for research. Using glass plates provides a fairly stable medium to make measurements once scanned in.

Plus the detail from a 16in Astrograph would...

  10. Re: Comparison of Howtek 8000 Resolve to Epson V850

1.8 was an apple thing. 2.2 is standard now. So long as you get the end result your after the technique you use is up to you. I don't use Epson can so don't k ow much about it.
  11. Re: Comparison of Howtek 8000 Resolve to Epson V850

This is 100% true. Even If there were a magic bullet so to speak, if you don't know what your doing you will get a wonderful mess of crap. The best thing I learned was to study the image as I...
  12. Re: Comparison of Howtek 8000 Resolve to Epson V850

It does have its biggest uses in science, but it also has a good use for anything digital including film scanning. I have not really played with it for positive film scans, but for negatives, color...

  16. Re: Film, scanning or development issues?

    Lol
  17. Re: Comparison of Howtek 8000 Resolve to Epson V850

Linear raw scan. No gamma curve applied, no conversion of neg to pos. It is basically the raw data allowing you to fo whatever you want with your scan since no formula baked into it.
  18. Re: Film, scanning or development issues?

Looks like film defects. Are these wet or dry mount? Healing brush, clone tool, patch tool whatever works.
  19. Re: New Photoshop ‘Select Subject’ Feature Gets Even Better

Never tried it. Usually do masks manually. I will have to check out though once I am moved to temp house while new one designed and built.
  20. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

I use it to hide scratches and force film flat, etc. If i just use anr it doesn't work so well and it is the way I have been using my V850 for 2 years now. It certainly does not hurt.
