pretty much anything red will work. I have thomas safe light, but used to use a red (not explicitly for printing) bulb I got at a hardware store.

This trait lets me feel comfortable enough to strap my wehman to the outside of a pack. If it gets rainy or really dusty, I have a lightweight rain cover that goes over both the pack and camera.

If your pricing is strict, then it rules out a wehman but at 2200 with 2 lensboards (drilled to your spec) it is pretty close, so i thought I would mention it.

I use a 3401 feisol and feisol ball head as my travel tripod with my wehman. Is is just fine.
I think the previous poster meant that his form of magnification was sharp in the center and then he moves it around the ground glass to check sharpness of the whole image on the GG.

I find the Wehman to be great. I often use it with a 5x7 reducing back. I probably shot less 4x5 negs than you before going to 8x10. Two factors for going to 8x10: contact printing and ease of...
I think it is reasonable question. I only go up to 8x10, but for many people on this forum 8x10 is small and 4x5 is like a spy camera.

If I remember right the marker at the bottom of the meter shows regions between normal shutter speed values. So for instance the reading will be 1/30 sec 2.0 +9/10, but at the bottom the marker will...
You set the aperture, then the meter figures out the shutter speed, but then it adjusts for the coarseness of the shutter speeds by telling you how to slightly adjust the aperture to get the exact...
I was surprised to see that you have having problems with scanning, but then I realized that store my unmounted Azo prints under stacks of books to keep them flat. If I don't they curl up.

I use two AB1600's for 8x10 studio shooting, Mostly I use a 300 mm lens and get f/16 with FP4+ (rated at 100) with brolly boxes (type of shoot through umbrella). I have been very happy with them....
I use a versalab 11x14 washer. Has 14 slots. With film that means you can wash 14 sheets at once. With paper you can put four prints in each slot (back to back with slight overlap)
