  1. Re: quick review on Shanghai 4x5 film (processed as negative and positive)

Found this to be true with 120 roll film. Nowadays, I use a hardening fixer and haven't had any emulsion damage since.

    Re: Seeking the perfect monorail

IMO, one of the main issues you'll have is trying to hit your weight class (4.5 lbs), yet still get all the functionality you're looking for. Both the Canham and Linhof are certainly beautiful...
  3. Re: Can anyone recommend any backpacks/suitcases to transport my LF camera/lenses/gea

I use this: https://fstopgear.com/products/icu/pro-icu-large to carry my Arca-Swiss 4x5, 5 lenses, and a few misc items. When I need to carry it longer distances, I toss it into a photobackpacker...

Re: Stearman Press leaking like crazy

If you're thinking about going the Paterson route, you may want to consider this:

Re: Stearman Press leaking like crazy

I don't wet the o-ring, I use 475ml of solution, do the "squeeze play" with the caps on loosely, then tighten down the caps while squeezing the tank. It still leaks a little, but nothing problematic....
  6. Re: Lens board light leak / lens board question

Depending how precisely the hole for the shutter has been drilled into the board, I sometimes find it a bit tricky and fiddly to ensure that the retaining ring is seated properly into the board. If...
  7. Re: PYROCAT-MC in GLYCOL user info appreciated.

Those increased dilutions rates are to make the developer more active. Back when I printed pt/pd from in-camera negatives, I used Pyrocat-HD at a dilution of 2:2:100 for HP-5+. But, like Andrew, I've...

    Re: B's 4x5 reel, experiences?

I use both; never had any issues with the B's reel, but have had occasional emulsion gouges from the film hold-down clips on the SP-445 holders. I do like the fact that the Paterson tank fills...

    Re: Intrepid 8x10 experiences?

The Intrepid is far from my first LF camera. I used a Deardorff 8x10 for 30+ years, but I like to hike with my cameras and, at nearly 70 years young, the 'dorff just became too much to carry very...

I was using my Kickstarter 8x10 MkI regularly until I just recently got the MkII. I do like the MkII version better, but the original is a perfectly fine camera.

  16. Re: GG manufacturers update and Intrepid users feedback

Personally, I wouldn't use either of those lenses with the Intrepid 810 MkI, but the latest MkII version would probably be workable. I might be wrong, but I believe Ben Horne uses a Nikon W 300/5.6...

  25. Re: How much detail is lost enlarging a 4x5 negative to 8X10

  27. Re: SP445 film holder marks on negatives ( how to do this intentionally )
