    Re: C-41 Recommendations?

I have used Kodak Flexicolor with the Jobo drums and would recommend this option; just don't over use the developer - 4 sheets of 8x10 in 1000ml working solution of developer should be safe one-shot.

Mike, are you using a Jobo or one of these Stearman tanks?

    Jim,

Do you take a view on Intel Core processors compared to AMD? I'm on the Mac at the moment but may think about moving over to a alternative at some point, especially if Linux is a serious...

    Re: Experience with Colenta Processors

I wonder if this may have been an issue with the Refrema machine for the lab I was familiar with, relying on in-person trade in Norwich, not exactly a Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow for that...

    Re: Experience with Colenta Processors

In the past I ran a Thermaphot roller transport machine for RA-4 prints, I would be nervous of using rollers for film. As I'm only processing for myself at the moment the Jobo works very well - and I...

    Re: Lightbox for film scanning

    Sandy,

Is the Sony A7R IV the first camera you've tried camera based digitising with? I've made some attempts with a Fuji X-T2 and have found the process works better than I had expected,...

    Re: Moving away from Adobe

I was a keen Adobe user for a long time although when I realised I was only using a small percentage of the features I transferred over to PhotoLine - this was before Affinity Photo had developed...
  11. Re: Scanning 4x5: Buying an Epson Flatbed VS my current DSLR (5DII) VS Lab Scans

Someone on this forum is using the Panasonic S1R which I believe is relatively less expensive compared to the Sony A7R IV camera.
  12. Re: Scanning 4x5: Buying an Epson Flatbed VS my current DSLR (5DII) VS Lab Scans

Sandy, thanks as well from me as that is very helpful information, especially as few have your depth of experience and have tested Epson -> camera "scanning" -> drum scanner for comparison.

  13. Re: Scanning 4x5: Buying an Epson Flatbed VS my current DSLR (5DII) VS Lab Scans

I'm not sure how the approach of using something like the Kaiser Panolight compares as a light source - these seem to have adjustable intensity....
  14. Re: Scanning 4x5: Buying an Epson Flatbed VS my current DSLR (5DII) VS Lab Scans

Peter, those are some good points. He doesn't seem to back up the assertions made - although from a quick read through I thought he was discussing exposure more than light source.
  15. Re: Scanning 4x5: Buying an Epson Flatbed VS my current DSLR (5DII) VS Lab Scans

There are some comments in the article below that discuss possible problems with correct exposure with a camera system, eg. balance of red, green, blue etc. I'm not familiar with the author however...
  16. Re: Scanning 4x5: Buying an Epson Flatbed VS my current DSLR (5DII) VS Lab Scans

Peter, I've just had a look at those videos - great work - and your set-up seems more akin to "scanning" than some of the methods I've seen advocated, using a simple copy stand, light source, and...

Well this is odd, I've just done a darkroom session and had no issues with the sticking valves; I'll monitor the situation.

Re: Intellifaucet D250 - sticking valves

When I dissembled the unit there was very little actually visible that would indicate problems. I'll try soaking with a stronger acetic acid solution next, I only used 6% on the previous occasion.

The Intellifaucet valves have started sticking again today, so perhaps I need to soak them in acetic acid once a month or so as maintenance.

    Intellifaucet D250 - sticking valves

  31. Re: Jobo CPP-3 - failure to reach temperature - error code 6

Firstly I usually post over at another forum but realise there seem to be several Jobo users here so worth a try...

I've processed 5"x4" C-41 film without a problem in Jobo drums, although not 10"x8"; using the Fuji Xpress kit and the Kodak individual products.
