Re: Is the WTB subforum dead?

You need to be brought up to date regarding the Forum Rules. At the top of the forum page, click on the tab that says "Forum Guidelines", then scroll down to the paragraph that says "Wanted to Buy"...
  3. Re: Have you ever purchased a silver gelatin print from a living photographer?

In 1966 I attended my first of four Ansel Adams Yosemite workshops and was offered an opportunity to purchase his photographs at his gallery at a discounted price. I selected two prints: 16x20...
  4. Re: How to secure Sinar Norma Case for shipping

This is the picture you're referring to. I got the case and carry straps when I bought my 5x7 Norma around '70; both are still practically new condition. I cringe every time I see this. it'd be...

Is this what you're looking for? It's not really clear to me how it works, but I trust Kumar.

Re: Foot candle to aperture and ISO.

Set the shutter speed to the reciprocal of the number the needle points at; e.g., if it points to 25 c/sq.ft. set the shutter to 1/25 sec. Having established the combo of shutter speed and f/stop,...

Re: Foot candle to aperture and ISO.

Not so, Bill. His Exposure Formula requires readings in candles/sq.ft. (not foot candles) and then the shutter speed is the reciprocal of candles/sq.ft. Other than that you're correct.

    Re: Zone I SET

Doremus, I’ve found something interesting in this regard. When I tested HP5+ sheet in HC-110B with step tablet in camera, measuring fb+fog at the rebate, the results agreed with your comment. Testing...
  9. Re: What distance needed to enlarge to 30" x 40" with 135mm or 150mm lens for 4x5?

Some time ago I found the formula that explains all this in Way Beyond Monochrome Ed.2, so I created an Excel file that allowed me to calculate and plot the curves that result. I’ll attach an image...
  10. Re: Let's see your favorite mountains & ridgelines

I don't mean to be critical, and I don't think anyone who may have noted the error really cares, but Mt. St. Helens is not in the North Cascades and actually is in the southern part of Washington....
  11. Re: Let's see your favorite mountains & ridgelines

Here's another previously posted one. This one was made on 3rd Burroughs Mtn (7800 ft.) not far from Sunrise on the NE side of Mt. Rainier with a view of Winthrop Glacier. Burroughs Mtn is really a...
  12. Re: Let's see your favorite mountains & ridgelines

Here’s a favorite image I made back in 1971 on my first 10-day backpack trip with my new 4x5 Sinar Norma. This is Prusik Peak (~ 7800ft.) in the Enchantment Lakes region of the Central Cascades in...

Maybe "recycle" was the wrong word. Make that the "recirculate" button.

Re: White Rim Road - Mice?

Just a note on this. A few recent years ago, my 4Runner had some mice get into it while parked in my garage. Turned out they found access to the glove box via the 'recycle' duct (that's the duct that...

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

John, most color films do not take to high contrast scenes well, requiring an exposure that renders desirable highlights and lets the shadows fall where they will, but I can suggest a technique to...

Re: The first war to be photographed?

This reminds me of an outing at one of AA's Yosemite workshops. A group of participants was turned loose to find images in a junkyard, led by one of AA's assistants - a painter. One of the young...

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

Corran, I don't do color work anymore, but regarding b&w I do recall AA suggesting the use of a #47 (C5) deep blue filter to enhance the 3D effect of distant bluish haze. But the rather large filter...

  24. Re: Distance optimization for '60s-vintage Super Angulons and Symmars?
