Re: Mixing chemicals quick & easy

To mix chemicals in glycol it really needs to be heated, so I used a hotplate underneath my drill press with a paint stirrer. Worked pretty good and didn't have to stir for half an hour.

    Ken,

"Thanks for that. I intend to do the same and plot the results. I think it's very helpful to know.

  3. Re: EPSON Scan settings: which Gamma setting is "normal" ?

    Ken,

I have a Epson scanner and a test awhile back on Stouffer 4x5 step tablet (transparent). That density range is really pushing past the limits of the design of the scanner but I was suprised...
  4. Re: Help please with V750 and large negatives

I had the same problem with Vuescan when scanning neg pages that covered the full area. Had to use Epson for that purpose, otherwise I use Vuescan.

Re: Papers with No OBA and Metamerism

    Ken,

I know you do mostly BW. I was not happy with my 2400 and ABW. I am much happier using bw inks although I am limited to matte papers with the current mix I use. Also, a CIS system will save a...

Re: Best PreCut Inkjet Postcard Paper?

I've used the Red River cards and they work fine. I have heard of some who like the Strathmore Artist cards with the deckled edges, I have not tried them yet but they look nice in the online photos.

I have a 1800 for color. It's touchy and tends to band.

I have a 2400 for BW. I use a CIS. Ink carts will eat your dollar reserve. Watching 10mils of ink pump out each time you change a cartridge...

    Re: Scanscience mounting system

On an Epson 4990 I consistently had problems on scanning 6x17cm pano, 4x5,5x7. The film would pop during the scan yielding out of focus areas. I made a cardboard mask the thickness of the optimum...

    Re: Epson V700 Issue

    Keith,

I know when a filter is used behind a camera lens a correction of about 1/3 the glass thickness is needed. Maybe the plex is acting the same way.
