I will be testing at a sea shore lodcation in much the way recomended by Tin-Can. Don't think I can get ten steps on one plate though. I'll try 4 steps; ISOs 12, 25, 50 and 100. Have a spare dark...
I don't shoot in inclement weather much these days. I am now considering strong wind or a stiff breeze now as "inclement".
However, I do routinely use a BTZS hood on my 4x5.
The two options that come to mind are:
A split filter, which is a plus diopter cut in half.
The other involves tow separate shots on two sheets of film and some heroic work in Photoshop.

Thank you T-C:

There is developer information on the box. What I need is some idea of how sensitive (or insensitive) the plates are.
About to have an adventure in orthopedic surgery:
Having the left hip replaced in early May. Did the right hip in 2019 and needed the other one done then. Put that off till the next year . ....

Be leave it or not, my intro to LF came in the 1990s through high-tech diagnostic imaging with computer driven nuclear medicine cameras. Every day I would work...
Can't wait to see it with bellows and a lens!
I can't argue with any of your points regarding the durability and rigidity ertc of heavier cameras.
Yet at age 70 and with one hip replacement and the other scheduled for April, weight is a major...
It looks like something expensive might be inside.
I read the following after I wrote it and it sounds a bit condecending and premptory. What appears below is intended to be direct and voncise . . .and helpful. Again: Welcome to LF. Don't over...

Having followed this along, I am less disturbed by how your project is moving on.
I do have an aversion to irrevocably altering these older cameras. Not to criticize your effort in this; My...

Years ago we planned a trip to the Grand Canyon. I didn't have a field or hiking kit then. It was all packed into a salesman's "Catalog Case" .
Went to Good will and got a tough looking day bag....

The Wista 45DX is pretty light. I have the Wista-made Zone VI version and its great as a light weight 4x5. Schneider 90mm /6.8 Angulon is nearly weightless. The 127mm lenses from the old Polaroid...
Thanks TC: No problems. . .good to hear. What about import duty and so on? Are there any additional expenses to be expected?
I am looking at vintage and antique lenses on e-Bay. Several have caught my attention but they are in the UK. What complications will come up in importing one of them into the USA?

My first thought was to take a mostly gutted pre-anniversary Speed and adapt what is left to clip onto the back of a camera like a GG back.
The next thought was to use the Speeed Grasphic's...
Over tyhe years, I have seen two accessory or add-on focal plane shutters designed for an 8x10 view cameras. These were roller blind type muchn like the later press cameras. I think Folmer and...

I too use a BTZS hood for 4x5, but a traditional (home made) dark cloth for 8x10.
Welcome to LF!

Three-D printed . . .Great!
Now lets see someone do a Grafmatic re-boot in modern materials.
I took a Dag workshop back in the early 2Ks led by Jerry Spagnoli.. He was great and it was fun, but I couldn't really discern the feint color tint of a properly coated plate.
I have written this before but its still good.
In the 1990s I knew a collector who had two huge ULF studio cameras displayed in his collection. At the time I had access to large sheets of film...
