    Re: Munewca Cameras

You're right. A Luland head would make all the difference as to stability, provided of course the tripod itself were suited to the overall weight. Thanks for the photos.

    Re: Munewca Cameras

And a happy 2023 to you, Jackson. Thanks for once again giving such a detailed reply. The stability of field cameras seems to be a general concern. I recently watched a YT video review of one of...
  3. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

That's true. I have one of their holders. It's a thing of beauty, as well as a delight to use.
  4. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

Bernice is right. The optimal solution is a Chamonix board. This thread was never meant to be a criticism of Chamonix's service or products. Both are exemplary.

    The other solutions, sub-optimal...
  5. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. I'll report back in a little while when I have calipers (and file) in hand.
  6. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

Another excellent suggestion. It never occurred to me that Luland might alter the thickness to suit. I've ordered calipers and will presumably have a better idea of how much my boards are off in a...
  7. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

I did wonder about that, in the beginning. (The 45-N2 I have is as you describe.) I just didn't want to introduce a problem in the other, outward direction, as the screws can't be that long. Maybe a...
  8. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

That brings up something mentioned in the original thread. Tolerances may vary between cameras.

My Luland boards don't allow the tabs to fully descend (not even under force). This is why my lens...
  9. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

It was Hugo who brought attention to the problem back in 2008 (see thread referenced above).

My camera was manufactured in 2021. So there's been no change in tolerances.

    And it's true...
  10. Re: Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

I have to assume the answer to the question is no. And, of course, a week ago a lens and lens board did fall off the camera because the tabs weren't fully closed.

The remedy seems to be twofold:...
  11. Adjusting tabs to hold lens board on Chamonix 45 N-2

Is there a way to make the tabs on the front standard of a Chamonix 45 N-2 a little more accommodating? They barely grip the (non-Chamonix) lens boards I have. As thin as they are, they're not thin...

Happy new (western) year, Jackson TB. Just wondering whether you have had a chance to get more experience with your Munewca 8 x10.

Thanks for taking the time to put together a very thorough summary. The company appears to be virtually unknown here. Which is odd, considering what they offer.

    Munewca Cameras

Anyone have any experience with Munewca cameras? Or information about them?

The website (munewca.com) has an intriguing video, on what appears to be an 8x10 (or larger) and the classifieds here...

    Re: Brand 17 question

There's no fool like an old fool, and this one is almost a year older. The answer was there all along: the thumb screw next to the stub was preventing the back from turning; I simply had to lower it....

Yes, I believe so. Don't know how practical that would be, as the dolly has minimal clearance. But it is possible.

The Linhof dolly looks like a pretty serious rig. As does the tripod, for that matter. Sudden onset gear envy all round. I would love to have something that secure.

Re: Tripod dollies for larger tripods

I went with the Manfrotto 181 that Tim provided the link to. It was used and therefore $100 or so less than it would have been new. I'm pretty sure it will be sturdy enough. Thanks to all who...

    Tripod dollies for larger tripods

My back is telling me I need a tripod dolly, for indoor use. I have a Manfrotto 075 tripod. The dollies I've been looking at don't seem substantial enough.

    Any recommendations?

Thanks, Merg. If this thread has taught me anything at all, it's that I don't know enough about my own camera. Reversing the standards is on my list of things to do.

    Re: Newbie lens board question

Interesting list. Oddly enough, the hole size, despite the heading, is given in inches twice. But 41.6 mm = 1.638 in. So I guess I'll go with #1.

    Many thanks for your help.
